Prayers for doggies recovery and your decision. :) I think I would have tried too, the not knowing would have just killed me. One lucky dog with owners that care so much about him!

I just got a call this morning from the vets, and they were getting him ready for surgery, and discovered his heart is enlarged and just wouldnt be able to handle it, she advised us that putting him down is best for him.

I'm going to say my goodbyes, and lay my friend to rest.

If he is other wise healthy, besides his age, I would give him every chance to continue his life, provided there is quality of life.

Was truly hoping that in a few hours you'd be posting that surgery was a success. Sending hugs & prayers, it's never easy to make the choice that is best for our best buddies.

I feel so bad for you...I had to face this about 4 yrs. ago when my little JRT, Lucky, was faced with a life saving surgery at 14 yrs. old....I opted to do the surgery and she didn't recover from it and passed away 2 days later, but I'm still glad I did everything I could have....prayers to you as you lose your best friend, but he will forever have a part of your heart...

I was hoping for the same thing as well. Many prayers and hugs. I know it isn't easy. Nothing I can say would make it easy... So very very sorry....
