as far as magic seat it is Velcro Unless you have tried it then don't judge too harshly It is a tool like all tools wise ones know when to use and not use and unwise don't
Actually, I have given thought to trying one to see how it feels. I've been running barrels for 45 years and 20 of those years were running & winning in the WPRA. The last few years, my timing seems not as quick as it used to be. Have had a couple mishaps which is working on my confidence, so if a Magic Seat will help, why Not use one? Was also considering trading in my hat for a Helmet. Nothing wrong with trying to be safe, rather than sorry! |

Location: Louisiana | This is the first time I've seen Max wear a magic seat. I would assume he wore it for the same reason Fallon did... To show support for his sister Allie who was bullied by ADULTS on social media after she ran with one at the American semifinals. It beats me how grown men and women can look down on and shame kids. Instead of being bitter go out and qualify your butt to the American. It's not easy!! Of course the same people who post on social media sites bashing others would never say those things to that poor girl's face. Fallin posted on FB last week that she flies her "freak flag" to take the heat off of others and that she would show support to Allie by wearing the magic seat at D&D. Do I wear one? No. Would I put one on my kid? I don't know. I do know that it isn't my place to judge someone else for their choices! Great run Max and way to represent Louisiana!! The Choests regularly show up to our local barrel races and kick bootay. |

Agree, I don't think he normally rides in one. Congrats on the arena record Max, beautiful run. |

Pretty nasty and judgmental comment. Max does not use one, he was making a statement because of statements and judgements like this. Let people be, it doesn't effect you. If someone needs or wants to use one why do you even care??

And I am interested in it because I am a barrel racer and find tools like magic seats interesting. Seriously..... take a chill.... eta: It is going to be very interesting to see how many people start using them- an arena record doesn't lie.....

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Just an observation. I really don't care if he rides naked but I've never seen Max not ride in a Magic Seat so it wasn't a statement for his sister.
My actual point is most people don't pay any attention to what anyone is wearing, riding in or doing until it is brought to their attention. The below videos are from back to 2013 and are on 3 different horses.

In barrel racing you have different tools to use whether it be for safety or to help you keep out of the way of your horse. If it can help you make faster runs the only stupid person is the one that doesn't take advantage of using them. |

Have no idea why we are talking about cheap shots being taken at kids, I thought we were talking about Max setting the arena record??? I think it was just a preemptive strike to keep the topic from going sour. I watched the video, beautiful run!

Exactly!! And bottom line is, that kid ran the fastest time on that course in that arena EVER!! Lord knows the very best in the business have run there over the years and he clocked the fastest ever out of everybody who has ever ran there. What ever tools he chose to use to get that done, my hat is off to him. He obviously is getting the last laugh! Maybe those scoffing, would clock faster if they used one. |

Isn't this the truth.
JMO...This all comes from that as a nation in whole we aren't happy with all the BS going on around us and it's a way to vent even though it has nothing to do with our frustrations.
If you disagree with this administration you are a racist. If you are upset with all the BS Hillary is hiding you are called a sexist. I yearn for the America that I grew up in. If you were a POS...that is what you were and no one blamed it on someone else. |

I agree too- even though I am still confused about what exactly is going on with this particular thread.......
I think the people who are more on the professional level are happy and really do appreciate other peoples victories because they know how hard the work is to achieve success. It's the people who have never made it, for some reason or another, who are quick to lash out and criticize the winners. |

 Don't Wanna Make This Awkward
Posts: 3106
Location: Texas | I'm so confused by all the drama and controversy over the magic seat... If you actually think Max Chouest & VF A Sporty Design broke that arena record because he is wearing a magic seat, then why doesn't everyone go out and buy one? Because you're afraid you will be made a fool of when you don't magically start breaking arena records on a 5D horse?
Why do people bash proffesionals for using tools that are available to everyone? |
