ASAP! I have found it best to tie them up right next to the mare a couple of days a week the first couple of months. Makes such good horses in the long run.

I use the CA method and use two strings so by the time they are a week old give or take, they have been led around and by the time Im hauling for rebreeding, i have worked up to a halter and lead rope. I have found the method easy and it works. I dont tie my babies until time to wean but by then they figured out to follow the pull on the halter - havent had one pull back and buyers seem very happy with their start.
