This thread is a perfect example of why feed companies won't change their practices. Horsemen aren't willing to say "no more" and back each other up when a particular feed causes problems for others if they themselves aren't having an issue. I was feeding Nutrena. I never had a problem. A Cargill plant is literally in my back yard. It wasn't ionophore free. I stopped giving them my money. I was told they had gone ionophore free so I went in and asked. I was told "we don't use them in our bagged feed but we use them in our bulk feed". Sorry but that isn't a good enough answer. I refuse to support any feed company that makes unsafe feed, even if I myself have never had an issue. Because a feed mill is only as good as their worse employee. Feed companies need to protect ALL horses, not just a few due to the location. Off my soap box now.

I think we are sisters at heart.

I also refuse to feed from those types of mills and shut up about it.

We almost lost a very good mare.  Standing up for your beliefs is a lost art in America.  Sad, sad.

I was having problems with the growth being clumpy or oily and chunks of stuff that hadn't mixed in. We are in Montana so not sure where our feed is milled but if they are not coming from a clean mill I am not interested in feeding it any more. I am running out of options here guess I am going to have to ship some feed in from a safe company.
