| I figured in the IRS mileage rate= ~.56 a mile, which meant each time I went to their house it was $8, so $16 in mileage a day, then 20 for labor to take care of 4 horses, 3 dogs. I fed, gave hay, cleaned stalls, and drained and cleaned automatic waterers. She also wanted the barn blown out each night. So I asked about $35 a day total but I wasnt staying at her house.. I dont really think that wouldve changed the money, as I could sit on her couch just as easy as mine, LOL. I am guessing the cows just get fed together and need water checked?? |

Feed, water, clean stalls, fly masks/sheets, pick up dog poop in the yard, etc...
Be specific.
You can then determine what you should be paying. I think a minimum $50 per day. |

| I pay at least $20/day plus leave homemade treats and unlimited access to all the chicken eggs they could want and that's not even to stay at the house. We have wonderful people in our neighborhood that I trust with my horses and they're close enough to make it easier to drive over. Mine are easy, just throwing hay to the horses and refilling waters at least once a day. If they need grain, it's all pre-measured and bagged so they can just grab and dump. The dogs are more complicated but often I take them with me anyway. The chickens just need to be checked on to make sure everyone's there and they have water. Once a day, we have them turn on the water for the garden when they arrive and shut off when they leave. But that's only if we're gone for more than an overnight. If not, I tend to soak it all and take care of it when I return the next day. The cats are indoors and annoying, so if I ask someone to stay, I'd add at least $10 a night and have all the food they could want. Staying somewhere else is a pain because you basically have to pack all your stuff or return home to get ready. Otherwise, I just have them leave the house alone and only worry about outside. If we needed someone to stay and they had cat and dog duty, I'd expect to pay at least $50/day, if not more. |

Location: Texas | I'm going through the same thing right now. Except on top of 3 dogs (2 that have suddenly decided they hate each other so have to be kept seperate) and a cat... Our friend will be making a trip to the store every day for our business. He will also be going every night to close with my employee. Which she is good, so that part will only take him 10 minutes tops and our store is 3 minutes from our house.
I've been sitting here trying to figure out what is fair.

Location: Colorado plains standing on a goat head! | We pay a wonderful lady $50 per day for taking care of 2-4 horses, 2 dogs and 2 cats and she stays at the house at night. Even if the house and barn are clean when we leave, they are cleaner when we come home! She's wonderful! |

Location: Kentucky | We pay $10 a feeding, morning and night. $5 per stall, they are in 12 hours and out 12 hours. They pretty much just need picked out and with only 4 horses it takes no time. So 4 horses, 2 dogs and several barn cats. He might have to through some feed to the cows if they come down. $10 a night to stay at my house with my two dogs. I always have the house stocked with food and drinks but he usually brings his own ( Food allergies)

| I was just paid $200 for 3 days. I also stayed at the house and watched everything while they were gone. And that was to take care of 4 horses am and pm Feedings and cleaning stalls. 2 inside dogs that have anxiety issues when the owners leave. They pay me well but also know I'm very reliable and they have nothing to worry about while they r gone. |
