what law did she break?

legally, maybe none. Morally, depends on who you ask.

So can you prosecute someone for moral code violations?

Not sure how this fits into the animal world as far as prosecution but here you go.

Moral turpitude is a legal concept in the United States and some other countries that refers to "conduct that is considered contrary to community standards of justice, honesty or good morals."

"offenses involving moral turpitude may be grounds to deny or revoke state professional licenses such as teaching credentials,[5] licenses to practice law,[6] or other licensed profession."

mlh0972 - 2015-06-25 3:22 PM In her defense ( not saying she is right) but she did say it was a feral cat. Living in the country I get it. Feral cats are f***ing MEAN!! Does this justify her killing and posting the picture as a working vet, HELL NO! But just to state what she was "thinking" when she made her kill. I know my bf has killed many wild cats around us but you can clearly tell they are feral and actually will attack our barn cats. Once again, not agreeing on what she did.

The thing is, it was not a feral cat.

By all accounts I have read, the cat was NOT FERAL but belonged to a neighbor. Who knows for sure. It was all just very distasteful and just plain out of character for what I picture a vet to do.

The feral cats that we have around here are pretty rough looking and on the thin side with not so good hair coats I like to keep them around so that they will kill snakes and mice/rats, but the cat she was so proud of shooting with her bow was fat and very healthy looking and her being a Vet she should be able to tell the difference between a feral and a pet. She just wanted to kill something to show off to her buddys.

Heck just looking at the picture you can see that its not feral, very fat and healthy looking. So I would think that she could tell the different being that she was the one that shot it.

I feed the feral cats around our house for the same reasons....they're tough on snakes and mice.

IF she honestly couldn't tell the difference in this cat and a feral one.....she's a sorry excuse of a vet. It's obviously someone's pet.

The thing is, it was not a feral cat.
There was evidence that it belonged to someone?  Initally someone claimed it was their cat, but in the investigation that was apparantly a falsehood.

Everything I read and saw pictures of that cat,  verified it was an older couple's pet that had gotten out by mistake.

Could not be proven as KL would not produce the body to verify it was the neighbors cat which had the same unique markings on one leg and has never been found. Could be 2 cats out there with this weird marking but highly unlikely, anyway, no body, no proof.

Side story that relates.
My sister had a cat named frodo.  They family loved this cat dearly.  One day they found that frodo had been hit by a car on the road in front of the house.  They were all very sad and had a grave side service for the cat in the back yard.  A week later frodo came home.   Turns out the dead burried cat was an imposter.

Even if this cat did not belong to this couple it still was someones pet. And she was a Vet that shot and killed someones pet with pride, a Vet takes takes care of people's pet.  A Vet that people trusted to like their pets not having pleasure in killing them.

Its not what law she broke thats got everybody in an uproar over its because she's a Vet and showing off her kill on FB, now what kind of Vet would do something like that, braging that she killed a cat with a Bow. She is a Vet

she was very stupid, and a little crass.

But neither of those things is illegal. This post was originated to inform that she was not charged with a crime.

legally, maybe none. Morally, depends on who you ask.

So can you prosecute someone for moral code violations?

Oh, if only. . . . .

Like I said I am not defending her at all. I was just stating how she had said it was a feral. I even said that what she did was wrong. I agree you can tell by all the pictures that the cat is very healthy and looks to be in a good neighborhood. Once again I was just stating a fact that was provided to us in the article, and as many have said, there was no body produced to prove that that particular cat belong to that old couple.
