well tried the leash last night, walked around at 9pm for half an hour...she thinks it's a game. I even took treats with me but she wouldn't potty or poop, just kept trying to sit or lay down when I stopped. I let her out of the kennel last night, and low and behold....woke up to a pile of it by the bathroom door.

I have been very lucky with the last few dogs (gotten them all as puppies) I have had.  The only time they will go in the house is if I totally am not paying attention or if they are sick.  I think in my case it has help a ton that I have older dogs that will show them the ropes.

The puppy I currently have has never tried to go potty in the house.  I have the mom and at night all the pups and mom would go in the little dog run we had and they would hardly go potty in there as I thought they didn't want to go where they slept.  I have brought Minnie with me to work a few times and I will take her out every couple of hours.  She will squat to pee as soon as I set her down and then walk to the grass and do number 2.  I always praise her.  If she stays in at night she will howl when she needs to go out and again as soon as she is out she will squat.

They are a lot like small kids.  Have your tried taking her out multiple times durning the night?  Do you have or can you set up a little fenced area that you can put her in to do her business at night so she can't chase the cats?

Can you set up a small fenced area for her to hang out in until she goes?  Maybe something temporary?  Take her outside again after you get your kiddo in bed?  Maybe she's not ready to go when you take her out the first time?

I've got a few ideas in mind, when I normally let her outside she has run of the property and always comes back....I just haven't had time to sit out there for as long as she is out to watch to see if she goes potty/poop. I have one of those teather things I can attach to the porch and put her on it at night.
