| I've read up on swirls and their meanings. I'm not convinced it is always an accurate description of a horse's personality, but sometimes it is. They say that one swirl centered between the eyes is ideal, this will be a predictable, consistent type horse (I guess, whether they're good or bad they'll be consistent at it!) If the swirl is above the eyes then they're focused, intelligent, could be hyper alert, might try to outsmart you. If it's below the eyes then they're imaginative, get bored quickly, could be stubborn, Houdini like (unties ropes, etc.). Two swirls side by side means they're very focused, talented, good work ethic. So, hope this one's right for you, since this is what your horse has. It's the two swirls one on top of the other that's supposed to be bad. They're supposed to be untrustworthy, unreliable, and accident prone. Now, my favorite mare ever has two swirls like this, but they're close together. She's a very nice horse, I get along with her great. So, I guess she disproves that one. Supposedly, each swirl represents a different personality. When swirls are far apart this is bad, they're like Dr. Jekyll and Hyde. However, when the swirls are close their two split personalities are so similar you can't tell the difference. Three swirls are rare, complex individuals, best for experienced riders. They say that stallions with multiple swirls are dangerous. I do check out the swirl on any new horse I might buy, but it's good to check out a lot of things then.

Double whirl horses are definitely "special".  In the pic you showed, the whirls are low, which is good.  Double whirl horses (low or high) are Great horses, just fragile and if handled with care & taken along slowly, are Awesome!! High double whirled horses are typically super fragile minded and flighty, and I've owned quite a few. Lower double whirls are still fragile but a litte more stable, LOL.
It's Good! Â
So...... what do you see here?

| One of my current rodeo horses has two swirls. One on top of the other and close together. She is not mean or unpredictable at all. She is very easy to deal with and runs great. She has a few small quirks about walking into dark concrete areas, but nothing phases her at rodeos or just about anywhere else. So I dont believe she fits the mold for swirls. | |

Location: Gainesville, TX | Honestly, I think its pseudoscience but there have been a few interesting studies on it. Here's the most detailed source I've seen on what they are supposed to mean.

above includes mention of a study by Temple Grandin on 1500 cattle (which shows some reliability)
