I think there ought to be strict restrictions on women's attire at the NFR.
There ought to be a "Code" of some sort that restricts the wearing of certain attire. Women should look "professional".........right?

There are. Nothing that she wears breaks that dress code.

I prefer Callie DuPerier's statement. She has the money to wear whatever she wants and instead protrays the look of a real cowgirl. She wears a hat she has had for years, has worn the same shirt for more then one perf, wears her hair in a braid and has no make up on. She is pure class in and out of the arena and it sure doesn't bother her when she doesn't win. She is her friends biggest cheerleader. She is what I would want my kids to admire.

News flash: her professional peers just voted for her award as "Best Dressed" at the NFR for the 3rd consecutive year. Evidently they don't share your sentiments, Kathie.

Sometimes growing up takes time and I do think shes growing up and away from what once wasnt a fairytale.I do think the way you dress can make you run and focus better or worse. If you love how you look and feel confident I think you absolutly ride better:) Merry Christmas to all!

Frodo - 2015-12-12 1:10 PM Is it just me or am I seeing a load of vanity in Fallon's statements.  Am I misreading?

Best dressed from the past......Marlene Eddleman.  Absolutely loved her matching shirts and polos.

I don't see vanity. I think she sees herself as someone who has a lot of impact, especially on the youth in our sport. Judging by the number of her followers, I'd say that is justified.

she wears the cheapest clothes on the market?? Really?? those costumes she rides in take TONS of money to put together, and her hair extensions ALONE are $300 a pop...every few months. Before she wore helmets, she wore hand painted hats that also cost a fortune to create. Nothing wrong with spending a lot of money to look good, and yes, I saw a post on FB once where she was headed into WalMart to buy something to wear...that doesn't mean she does it very often. Im just saying don't say one thing and do another...that's called being a hypocrite.

Pretty sure that she was talking about her Ranch Dress'n line, which when compared to many other fashion lines geared toward barrel racers is actually quite reasonable.

I miss seeing Joleen (I think was her name).  She always had the feathers and stuff.  I like seeing all the flash that some bring to the arena.

Anyone can vote for the Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed award. It is not voted on by their peers.  Her NFR competitors would want to win it themselves as 1st place gets $5,000. A few of the barrel racers put daily reminders of the Best Dressed award on their social media pages with the link to the voting page asking everyone to vote for them. Fallon posts the info daily... a few others do as well.  I am sure many of her social media followers voted for her daily.  I think you can vote daily.  Not sure if you can vote more than one time in one day or not. Callie's choice of style is all based on superstitions according to her interview about superstitions.

Had she done it as a way to be fun and give the crowd have a good laugh, absolutely but her analogy as written is a bit off putting (for someone that is less attractive and wakes up with Mohawk hair every morning, actually looks like that all day, I'm glad to wear a helmet to cover it up!).

livinonlove&horses - 2015-12-12 5:02 PM  This isn't why she wore the mowhawk.  A letter was written to her by a gal that has fell off her horse several times and has to wear a helmet now or not ride. The lady wears a helmet like that because she didn't want something boring. She says she had been made fun of but when that happens she just thinks of Fallon and says if she can I can. She thanked Fallon for being brave enough to break tradition s d wear a helmet. Fallon wore the Mohawk in her honor
^^^^^^^  posted a link to the letter way up above......

Yes, the woman Fallon wore it for put a Mohawk on her helmet to give it some flair when she ran her horse. That woman decided to wear a helmet after some serious horse accidents. She was made fun of for wearing a helmet at her local shows. So, Ft wore a Mohawk on her helmet in honor of this woman after receiving a letter from her thanking Fallon for wearing a helmet and inspiring her to do so as well.

Im sort of ambivalent about FT, but how can anyone hate on this gesture?

Fallon could have explained that it was to honor someone specifically then and not the way she did. She already honors everyone that wears a helmet by wearing one herself and setting the example.

I've often wondered if her accident changed her to a better person.  I too, had heard about her horse selling deals.  I will say about 10 years ago at Reno, she parked next to me.  The parking was less than organized, therefore she was really close.  She made a point to ask if she should move or was she okay.  Which, didn't bother me.  She stayed.  Now back to the original post, her outfits have brought plenty of attention to our event, both positive and negative, would I wear it, heck no!  Not my style, I like to blend!

I remember the year when the girls weren't dressing up enough to suit everybody.  There are a lot of colorful figures in the sports world and always will be.  Why not barrel racing.I loved the variety this year in all aspects of the barrelr acing all the way from a braid to a mohawk.
