Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | You may still end up in the hole breeding to a top sire. Her age will make a difference to the potential buyer no matter who you breed her to. I wouldn't invest a lot and roll her......or breed her, sell the foals and let her live out her life with you.

Frenchmans Guy is no longer breeding. I'd heard they were not offering frozen either. I don't know it that is true or not as I didn't verify it.
They are doing an ICSI procedure so you can still breed to him (I'm pretty sure at least!). |

I am in the same situation on an older mare I really need to sell. She is 20. Has 1-d foals running, she is bred to my stallion for 2016 foal....but really need to bred her to something that I can get the most bang for my buck, since I acutally took her on a trade and have around $4,500 in her. Good Luck...if you find that stallion let me know...!!!!
You told me when we traded you wouldnt get $500 for the mare. How do you have $4500 in her? You own the stud and she hasnt cost you that much to feed. |

| I want discuss business on a public forum, however... as you already know I have to get 2-3 foals out of this mare to equal the amount of money I came off of on the other mare.
I have had to have some work done to the ole gal later this summer as she had a sticky stifle, I also had extensive repro work done to her as I could not get her in foal at first.
Money adds up.... my hope is to get a few foals out of her....however if I can bred to a stallion and send her on her way for the amount of money I have invested in her, then that would be great! We love this mare, however facts are facts and it is a business...my hope is that she will produce some really nice foals, still.... as she is bred out of this world. |

Funny, If I remember right, you got her in foal on the first cycle. So dont make it sound like you got took. I paid cash plus the mare in that deal. Yes you came off on your asking price, but I also know you didnt have that kind of money into the mare I bought. |

| I will text you, as you seem to have some hidden feeling. Like I said I am not going to talk business on a public forum.
However, I have you know I am very happy about the decision I made. I know that I was taking gamble with the trade. Yet, it worked out in everyone's favor. |

barrelracingstar121 - 2015-12-18 8:13 PM Looking for a marketable cross on this mare... I know there is a proven cross on this bloodline out there, looking for something that will get this mare sold in foal. She is an older mare (1995 model ) that is 16 and huge. Throws a lot of size and bone. This mare is by the same stud as Carley Richardsons "Doda Flit". Here is her pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/do+da+do+dash any recommendations would be great!
I do like the looks of your mare, shes got great bone. Good luck on who ever you breed her to. Β
Thank you! she is the sweetest old mare, we just have too many horses and we need to cut back. |

Location: Where I am happiest | What kind of money are you looking to get for this mare if she's open or if in foal? sometimes, especially on older mares your lucky to get just stud fee back. |

Sometimes, not even that, especially recently. A nice mare bred to Stoli didn't bring 3k at our LQHBA sale last month....I don't remember her age, but it wasn't that old. Several mares sold dirt cheap. People aren't spending a lot on horses right now. |

Location: Wisconsin | not a huge return or profit for that matter, we'd like our stud fee back at least and a little bit for the mare. We have a few studs in mind- Manors Nick Bar (we have a breeding to use to him), BHR Frenchies Socks, and a firewater flit son. Can anyone recommend a son of Sun Frost?? A close friend of mine crossed a DoDaDash mare on a stud named PC Laughing Sundust and that mare, "Frosted Cookies" was the 2014 WPRA Derby World Champ ran by Fonda Galbreath.

Look at PC Frosty Bid for a Sun Frost son. I love watching him run... And he's FF.
Take that with a grain of salt because I do not know what crosses are proven. I just know what I like to watch run! ;) |

Location: TN | Rock Bottom Quarter Horses in East Tennessee have a mare by Dodadash like your mare and they breed her to their stud YQH Frenchmans Fly every year. I'm pretty sure they get around $3500 for a weaned goal from that cross. From what I've seen the babies look pretty nice. I don't know that it would give you the wide appeal though since he is more locally known than nationally. |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | Keep in mind that selling a live foal weaned is different than selling a 20 year old mare bred. There's a much greater risk in the 20 year old mare for the potential buyer. I'm just referencing an above post. Putting the foal in the mare doesn't guarantee that the foal will make it full term. For me to buy a 20 year old mare, I would gamble that the foal in utero was possibly her last and worth my purchase price/feed/care. I would think that I'd be lucky to get anything more out of her and consider it all a gamble. Sure, I could get 3 or 4 more foals from her, but it's all a gamble after 20. Watch the Winter Mixed Sale at Heritage. If there are any the age of your mare, watch what they sell for and to whom they are bred. You'll get an idea of what to expect. |

Location: Oklahoma | See what you think about Laico Ladiesman, he is listed on BHW and sibling to "Martha" proving himself as a sire in just 2 foal crops to compete. Reasonable fee and every time he was bred to a grey mare they had a grey foal.
