Twin Sister to Queen Boobie Posts: 13315 Location: East Tennessee but who knows?!	some grasses can do that if they have a certain type of fungus in them. Dallas grass being one in particular. What kind f grass is he on, and what type of hay is he getting? How old is he? Mini-strokes come to mind too.

It can cause one horse to have drunken like symptoms and the others to be fine.... Where is our Feed Guru on here??? She can tell you the specifics in fancier terms

Extreme Veteran Posts: 399	Vet suspects Epm but we caught it early. He has started on meds today and tests should be back on monday b or early Tuesday. Plus side is he not any worse and he is in great spirits and only leans on the wall for a short period to shift his weight.

Plus side is he not any worse and he is in great spirits and only leans on the wall for a short period to shift his weight. Prayers, and keep us updated on him.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 399	So we are waiting for test results to come back should be back tomorrow. He is eating and drinking well as well as peeing and pooping fine. He has been wanting to lay down a lot. We have been getting him up every hour and he gets a good drink and then stands and eats his hay. After about 20-30 min he lays down. Expert Posts: 4766 Location: Bandera, TX	Are you doing High doses of Vit E? Also, I've had a few that I was training on and the clients didn't want to pull them from training while they were on the EPM meds. I would give them B12/Phosphorus to help keep the muscle strength up.

Warmblood with Wings Posts: 27846 Location: Florida..	Pretty normal to want to lean or lay down for a few weeks its rough.. laying own is fine id get them up every other hour.. for a few minutes.. rolling is not ok though.. prayers..

I know they say it normally happens in week 2 but I am hoping that this is the time because he went from standing to he is still laying down all the time. But we are getting him up every 2 hours all day and night. He has gotten to where we don't have to help him much but tonight we did but like I said today was a bad day.. when he lays down he is sleeping very soundly so at least he is getting some rest. I keep telling myself to take it day by day.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 399	Hello everyone, we ended up having to put him down. He essentially was paralyzed on the entire left side of his body within 24 hours. We had a necropsy done and are still awaiting results. The thing we do know for sure now was that he did not have EPM, the spinal test was negative.
