Every gas station and the one tobacco store in town today was swamped---like couldn't pull another car into the parking lot or get another person in line---buying tickets for the lottery. We're right on the MS state line, and I bet I counted over 100 MS vehicles at lunch and when leaving town after work. People were parking their cars IN THE HIGHWAY and walking in Double Quick because you could not get another vehicle in the lot. Today (and I'm sure tomorrow) was a boon for our little town because of the lottery.

| There are so many ways to learn horsemanship any more i learn a lot from you tube and dvd's i rode with a woman for many years who was top notch she moved out of the area, now i watch dvd's I've always trained my own, it's been getting harder to find young horses at a reasonable price the horses running are so talented and bred well anymore, i purchased a finished and very expensive 1 d horse and had it vetted and missed something didn't pull blood and check for doping and got burned real good. I sold it for a brood mare for a 1/4th of what i paid for it and went back to starting my own. It can be challenging, frustrating and even heartbreaking! |

Location: North Dakota | I know the feeling. I mean, Cash is perfect for me in every way and there is NO amount of money that could buy him from me. And he was a whopping $4k. BUT if I were to get a second horse? Forget about it. I have stopped looking so as not to make myself feel bad. |

Location: Oakdale, CA | I love prospects! nice horses too but I'm thinking even a nice prospect is more of a gamble than a proven barrel horse in the division you want... the prospects I like are 15-20 g's...... |

| Sometimes they DO fall out of the sky and land in your lap. I've had it happen twice now. Once with the little show mare when my daughter was 10 and just a few months ago with a DTF gelding out of the same mare as my daughter's little Vegas mare. In both cases it was because they wanted these horses to go to a great home that would do right by them. I didn't spend anything close to what either horse was worth. I was just lucky and at the right place at the right time. |
