Location: Bastrop, Texas | We have an out of control government, to be sure. We are all to blame for allowing it to happen, either through apathy or ignorance.
Lincoln's unchecked actions set the stage. Lincoln pushed for the 13th Ammendment. Had this been accomplished 5 years earlier, then slavery, as a cause of the civil war, would have been taken off the table. The Emancipation Proclamation was, in fact, an executive order. As to whether or not we would still have had the war is anyone's guess....obviously, we'll never know. | |

Not in my mind. The existence of lingering hatred toward the north because of the civil war is very credible...it can't be denied.
I also don't see how it can be justified. If you feel it's justified, then Blacks, Irish, Native Americans, Japanese Americans.....and southerners should be justified for continued rage directed at Americans for injustices exacted on them by our ancestors.
After 150 years, it's time to move on. We can't change history. | |
