If you were picking a well bred stud just on the basis of being quiet, gentle, willing and good try, tell me your personal favorites please?  Also please list an approximate stud fee and if you are really in a great mood, I would love to hear sale values and testimony stories on the foals.  Thanks!
PC Frosty Bid or Whistleatthebabes. Etbauers own both. I have been around both at barrel races as well as at their house. Babe didn't get to compete due to them already having Frosty going, but Jacie's good horse Sizzle Whistle is one of his babes (She's made the american on him twice). Babe's mom "Fols Debbie" is the mom of the great Lady Perks. Frosty himself made the American. Hollie has a really nice Frosty babe, "Bring It On Frost Te" was just out of making the american and has placed/won many big races.LLP Shock and Awe is another awesome baby, Aubrey Hollifield rides her and has won some tough races in Texas on her. They did not really promote them until this year. Due to that, the market isn't flooded with them and you rarely see any of them for sale. Frosty is FF as well as BBR stallion stakes. Babe is $1000, Frosty is $1500.
But I also agree with Royal and Famous. He was a nice horse himself and already is getting phenomenal mares, which means the first couple babies to go to the arena will probably be winners.

| Slick By Design. I have a 2 year old by him out of one of our Driftwood mares. He actually walks next to my husband who has had total knee replacement & is walking with a cane & this colt walks beside him along side another mare we have. I'd say this is a fantastic temperament of a stallion. |

Lol on the comment on mare's temperament - You are absolutely right! She is testy which is why I want to tone things down a bit! And I know folks say dont breed a testy minded mare but a lot of that testiness is closely linked to try and grit. I am just wanting to manage my resourses lol! And my health. If I bred her to a testy light minded pea-heart I could end up in a world of hurt!
And thank you so much to all who responded> this was exactly what I hoped for and I deeply appreciate it. Pretty pictures of studs and pedigrees are great, but you cant see what's inside the ears. I love El Scorcho but you are too far away. :( and for the gray stus I have followed and like him for years and blessing to you. I also love Etbauers stallions and the Etbauers themselves. Wonderful folks indeed. Many of the other great horses noted are on my LOVE list, but out of $$ range this year. After lots of homework (including the fact that he is at Weatherford only 2 hours from me) I have decided on Royal and Famous, booked today. I am VERY excited.
Again thank you so much BHW folks, what a resource and I am so glad I asked my question. Blessings to all! SK

I have a half sister to my mare (both out of the Runnerelse mare) by AR Star, so I have followed Royal Star Commander as well. These stats are just what I was looking for backed up by good mind. I deeply appreciate you taking time to look this up and post. If I go with him do I need to tell them you referred me to him for any commission or stuff like that? I would be happy to. Blessings and Happy Easter! Huge huge hugs! Keep me posted on what you do! Send me your phone nbr or email.
Booked! Thanks again so very much! |

But I will add my opinion. I was able to meet Lions Share of Fame in person two years ago when I bred my mare to him. His reputation speaks for itself. Not only for his record, but his offspring as well. Amazing athletes and performers. King himself was extremely kind, calm, and very well mannered while we visited with him during the peak breeding season. I am sure he has his stallion tendencies as well but he was a charmer! My colt will be one in May and has the same great mind. Very kind, very willing, just sensitive enough to stay kind, but just arrogant enough to keep the independence I like to see in a horse. I am very excited to watch him grow! |

I agree on some. It is a bit of a toss up though. I personally wouldn't even think of breeding to a nasty stud. All my mares are sweet and gentle. But that doesn't mean their babies are all going to be. But it is so much easier to have them around and breed them to good dispositioned stallions vs having a hooch around having to deal with and then hoping she will produce better. But with AI these days, it is so hard to know if a pretty stud in a photo shopped ad really is all he looks to be. |
