I used to work for a mental health facility. Alex/Alexis looked exactly as much like a woman as Klinger from MASH did. Yet "it" dressed in mini-skirts, high heels, silk blouses AND used the ladies restroom. We did not like that but luckily it only appeared at our facility once or twice a month. 
You made me laugh!! It just so happens I'm on a M*A*S*H* binge this month... I'm working my way though all 11 seasons... Klinger just wanted a section 8... He played his part well...  |

I find these are the ones that live in small towns or are just weird outliers LOL
Most transgender men look better than me and could def give me some fierce make up tips! The thing in my area (its kinda heavy gay/transgender population) is that you won't be able to tell Bill from Betty and they just already use the female bathroom anyway. No one knows the difference because they are desecrate and don't draw attention at all to the fact that they aren't a women because they want to be recognized as a woman, not a woman that was once a man.

Its not as simple as anatomy. It would be difficult for me to explain the intricacies of human sexuality on this board but being transgendered is not the same as being gay/homosexual. Gay women don't mind using women's restrooms. Same for gay men. When someone is transgendered their mind does not match their body. For all you women , what if you woke up tomorrow morning and your mind was still female but you now have a penis. Female in every way except that extra part. Those people simply want to be able to use a restroom that fits their identity not necessarily their anatomy. Hope that makes some sense. And NO it's not a choice to be gay straight or transgendered. Many of these people would never choose that if it was a choice.

| I got an advertisement that was some kind of special of the day on Facebook. It was a foldable device for women to be able to walk around behind a building, insert it in their pants and be able to pee standing up. You could fold it and put it back in your pocket. It was supposed to be convenient to do this. I don't know how their sales were but I really have no desire to pee standing up. (I have lived all over the world and in many countries there is a hole in the floor and women do stand to pee) I have known several men who have been arrested for finding a convenient place to pee so don't know what police would do after they got over the shock of finding a woman standing there peeing. This for real. I emailed the ad to barrelhorseusa. He can back me up. |

This is true and probably the best point in favor of letting trans gender folks go into women's restroom. I really don't care. Those guys in the mens' room certainly were courteous when I barged in there at Walmart. I was in a hurry. |

THAT I understand. Whatever the cause may be, choice, mental illness, nature, I don't care what you wanna call it. Not my business. For me, and most people I've talked to though, the issue lies in the fact that walking into a public restroom, there is no concrete way to prove you actually have a female mind in a male body. People don't want some pervert to fake it and then do God knows what in that restroom. I would think the trans community would be against the extremely likely exploitation of their...condition (for lack of a better word) that this would bring on.
I do not believe there should be any legal action taken but in the case of those single stall bathrooms, I've seen unisex ones all my life. Why not just make all the one player bathrooms unisex? Companies building new buildings could include a unisex room if they so desire. And in the case of bathrooms with stalls. My opinion is that for the safety of the general public, trans people should stick to the system we have now. Even if you identify as a female but still have male anatomy, you see that every day, it shouldn't be traumatizing to see another penis at a urinal. Put a urinal in a women's room and you will probably unintentionally scar a child for life.

I hate it when I'm sitting down and look up at the little crack in those crappy bathroom doors and lock eyes with some chick passing by. Seriously?!?! I don't want anybody looking at me, same gender or not. All private bathroom stalls, I say! I don't want to know who is in there, what anatomy they have or what the heck they're doing in there. |

Location: Prosser, WA | I don't understand why we need to change laws and make many people uncomfortable for a very small percentage of the population. Many people for this say that transgender people have been going to the restroom of their choice for years and many if us didn't know so why should it bother us now. If they have been doing this for years then why do we need to make a law to make it legal? To me it is completely absurd, especially for locker rooms. There were many times that a boy would wait in the locker room to sneak a peek when I was playing basketball in high school. A step in the wrong direction for women's rights if you ask me. |

  You just got to get mean and mean it.
Location: Arkansas | Lived in Germany off and on for nearly 20 years. It was not uncommon to find bathroom that were unisex. You just went in, lock the door, did you business and unlocked it. It wasn't unusual to find a man waiting to use the bathroom you just walked out of. And very clean! But none of the bathrooms had more than one stall. Not like here in the States where you find multi stalls. LOL |

| I think they need unisex bathrooms if this is going to continue. I have nothing against gay, bi-sexual, lesbian, transgender but... I don't find it appropriate for those who are still anatomically male to be in a womens bathroom.
For the poster who said a transgender male (dressed as female) cant be gay, isn't true. Their gender and sexuality is two different things. But I don't think allowing them to use women vs bathrooms will increase perverts, there will always be perverts who don't abide by laws. However, I do think it basically makes the bathrooms a free for all... and theres no point in having mens vs women. |

Ok so I have an example for you. My SIL husband's brother and wife had a baby.. born early, had several complications and well some parts were not developed. I'm not sure how to explain this in text but I'm gonna try. The baby did not even have developed obvious butt cheeks. Basically it was all closed up and no obvious genitals. They had to immediately go to surgery to "create" parts. The baby needed to obviously be able to go potty before the testing would be finished to determine sex. They gave their baby a name that would go either way male or female because (and I don't remember all the details, it was a long time ago and not directly related to me) it was going to be several weeks before testing revealed what the sex should be. I remember thinking what if they made the wrong choice for that baby. After several surgerys she was alive and healthy. She is all grown up now and as far as I know still a happy healthy female but there was great potential there to have been wrong. |
