Your horses muzzles? I use to do it all the time along with bridle paths and ears, fetlocks. Growing up hunter jumper our horses were always body clipped and had no whiskers whatsoever, even the whiskers around the eyes were clipped. I've been reading that apparently it's not good or some say even abusive to clip muzzles because that's how they "feel" around and every whisker is part of their nerve endings or something along those lines. I haven't clipped their muzzles since we moved out here and they are on pasture 24/7 and there's no lighting out there. I still clip bridle paths though. ... just curious
I grew up h/j too, and now that I switched to a discipline where it's not required...NO!!! I am even selling my body clippers I am so over it! |

Location: North Dakota | I do also show my barrel horses (locally) so they get trimmed for shows.
If I wasn't showing, I'd leave the muzzle alone but I'd still tidy up the horse and make them look neat. I do fetlocks anyway because I feel like it's easier for sport boots. I do a very small bridle path year round as well. |

Location: Arizona | I used to clip the face and fetlocksΒ pretty religiously, but my dad and uncle & cousins all used to do a lot of stunt work in westerns (some still do), and when my dad gave me a horse one year he asked me not to clip him just in case they ever needed to use him for a movie. After that I just got in the habit of not clipping. So most of mine are au naturale. |

| Nope and I rarely bath them, although they do get hosed down after a sweaty ride and I swim them if that counts for a bath. |

Location: Canada | I grew up showing horses and everything was clipped and tidy 24/7. Since I switched to barrel racing I only do the bridle path but it's almost OCD with me. It drives me nuts to see my horses or client horses sporting a mohawk and they all tease me about it. |

| I grew up showing also. Used to clip everything. But now my horses are pasture horses, I don't even have stalls :( But I still do bridle paths on everyone. I can't stand no bridle path! |

Location: on my horse | I never clip muzzles because I don't like hugging prickly faces! I do the old man ear hairs that poke out, fetlocks, small (2 inch) bridle paths, and long jaw hairs though. |

Location: Jersey Girl | My retired gelding I clip his bridle path but thats about it. I stopped clipping ears years ago because then they have no protection against gnats.
The gelding I am currently running, no. But only because you can't clip him LOL I have to use scissors on his bridle path. |

I did notice the stout gray horse Scott Glenn rode in Silverado had a bridle path. I love the well groomed look of a horse. I always clipped bridle paths and fetlocks but felt the muzzle hairs served a purpose of some sort so left them alone. Yeah the beard went too though. |

| I have two geldings that I roach the mane. They both have terrible thin short manes so just decided heck with it. They both have nice necks so it looks good. Old school style |

Glad I'm not alone. I do actually clean up my old mare a couple times a year. Her chin hair gets to be about 4 inches long and that's all I clip on her. But other than that I rarely take the clippers to any of my horses. |

Location: Somewhere around here | I clip my horses bridle paths, the "goat beard" hair under the head, and fetlocks in the summer. I will lightly trim up ear hair if it's crazy but just enough so none is sticking out and I will clean up my horses whiskers in the summer time for shows but if we're not going anywhere I just let it be. I also trim up the top part of my horses tail so it doesn't look so fluffy or crazy at the too lol. |

| I have a friend who shows up with her horses clipped for a halter class. she usually brings about 4 horses. All are perfectly groomed and do turn heads. This sure must make her horses feel good because she will outrun you on any given day. |
