Location: California | I can't believe I forgot to post this video!!!! Ace and I hit 3 barrel races in 4 days in August. This arena is the one around the corner from my house and the first barrel race we went to there he COMPLETELY lost his brain and I was quite discouraged. Boy did he make up for it the following Thursday! I pushed him a little and again mainly smooched him out of the turns, I am in no way really asking him for speed though. He gets a bit antsy going into third because he is pretty sure he doesn't need my guidance. This kids seriously WANTS to work and turn!
*If you turn your volume up you'll hear the result of him almost successfully leaving me at second. Lol.*

Location: California | Ace did FANTASTIC yesterday at the Horse Expo! A very bitter sweet day. After my Dr's appointment Wednesday and now knowing I should not even be on a horse I only did Halter, poles, and barrels instead of going for high point. We also did lead line with my 7th old niece Willow (she has down syndrome). I can not believe how awesome Ace is with her! When Willow leads Ace he keeps his head low and he is completely focused on her and he takes baby steps. When she's on him he again keeps his head low and stays completely focused. I asked during registration if lead line was just walk or if it was walk/trot, I was told it was just walk. While in the class they asked us to trot twice, getting Ace to trot was not an easy task. Lol. Usually he trots off without an issue. Pretty sure he was more concerned about taking care of Willow.
We didn't stand a chance in halter against some very NICE halter bred horses, pulled 3rd out of 6 in lead line, and first in poles and barrels. Very fun day! Very painful day for me but I was determined to accomplish having fun. Now I will be listening to my Dr and have no clue when I will be able to ride again.

Location: California | Thank you! I can't believe I almost sold him twice. He has taught me quite a few things and it was a rough road for a while, we just couldn't seem to get on the same page with each other. I wouldn't trade him for the world now. We have made so much progress this year! It really breaks my heart that I can't be riding him. Originally I made the compromise that I wouldn't ride his dam anymore because her choppier strides put me in agony. I know I have been getting worse, after seeing my MRI I will finally give it and not ride at all. He's young and a break won't hurt him, that's what I keep telling myself. Lol.
I will be working with him and Willow since he absolutely adores her. It would be really cool if she could move up to riding him herself! I usually use his dam for lessons but these two just seem to click. |

Location: California | I'm going to try to upload the pics from the Horse Expo. I was in pretty severe pain for most of it and how I felt the following day ALMOST didn't make it worth it. I see a neurosurgeon November 15th.

Location: Arkansas | I am so proud of you and of Ace. And he and Willow touch my heart. Perhaps this hiccup in your time with him is God's way of Willow bonding with him. I have nothing but hugs and prayers and wonderful wishes for you and him and her |

Location: California | Thank you! My Dr told me MONTHS ago she advised I not ride, but after so many years of not getting any answers it was hard to just stop when I was fine riding Ace. Well, I should have listened a while ago. I just pray I get good news on the 15th!
It's funny, I pulled Serenity out today for Willow and her brother Robbie to ride and you could tell that Willow doesn't like her as much. Watching her with Ace is breath taking, not so much with Ren. Of course Ren was less then impressed with the whole situation. Robbie didn't ride very long at all and wanted off. So I guess we stick with Ace! Lol. If they make it over tomorrow morning I'll try to get some videos :) |

Location: California | He does! Though I think he's biased to these two, he snorts at other kids. Lol. I usually use his dam as my lesson horse but I used her the other day for the kids and she had her ears pinned the whole time and looked like she hated life. She sure changed her tune when I caught Ace this time around and he got all the attention! |
