The trainer was in a lesson so she said she would call be back later, in about an hour from now. She did mention they needed someone to feed and clean on Sundays but I said I could only do afternoons on Sundays. So maybe we can work something out. :)
Fingers crossed for you,

Location: Kansas | She called this morning and asked me what I wanted to do and my experience with horses. I really hope this happens! She seemed to sound interested even though I don't know how to clip a horse and have never cleaned a HORSE stall. My horses are outside 24/7 but I have experience cleaning pig pens. lol. Hoping she'll call again tomorrow and we can maybe set up a time to meet. |

I would and be very respectable about not wanting to bother or bug her, but let her know you were very interested in the job and wanted to see if it had been filled and that's why you had not heard back. |

Location: Missouri | My opinion (as someone who has been one to do the hiring) - if you aren't well acquainted with her... DO NOT TEXT. That is unprofessional. I would rather see you stop by, introduce yourself with a smile and a friendly, firm handshake. This let's her know you are serious, and if you present yourself it well could open the door for her to ask you questions or discuss the position more. |

Location: Kansas | I dont want to drop by uninvited. Most stables dont like that and I wouldnt know if she's there or not, or teaching a lesson.
I'll probably just call. What should I say? |

Just say hello, your name, and then ask if the job had been filled already. Tell her you are just now entering the work world and ask if she has any feed back for you for applying to these kinds of jobs. Let her know you don't want to be rude but really want to work and if she has filled the job, does she know of anyone else looking for stable help.
Personally, as a not so young woman, I love talking to and helping young people who have a good head on their shoulders and are willing to work.
Good luck on your job search. |

Location: Arkansas | I didn't read the text part----definitely don't text. As a business owner I don't like texts concerning business, unless it is an established relationship. |

Location: Kansas | The lady never called me back so I decided to call another barn tonight. I asked if she would hire a part-time working student and she said she had several working students already. About a minute later she calls me back and said she recognized my name because we had bought a saddle from her for my sister a few months ago. SHE OFFERED ME A JOB. She said she wouldn't be able to pay much to which I said I wasn't expecting pay, just wanted to gain more experience with training horses. So I said I'd talk to my parents and text her when we could meet and talk everything over I guess.
My dad is still...I dunno, on the fence about it? But he said maybe sometime this week or weekend, so I texted her back. I'm really excited for this and hope it all works out. It is 20 minutes out to the barn but I really hope we can figure everything out. :D |

Location: Kansas | Well it went really well! I lunged three horses and then walked two back and forth down the aisle - I know one was recovering from an injury. Spent about 3 hours there and loved it!! Hoping to go back next Saturday. |
