OhMax - 2016-12-08 8:11 AM Sending prayers. We see our horses everyday and when something doesn't feel right there's no shame in calling in the vet, even if it is something that resolves itself. I'm glad you got one out when you did and I hope your filly is on the road to recovery. Do you feel comfortable sharing what is going on? We don't have the worlds best horse vet in our area, so I love making mental notes about different aliments. It helps me decide if we call the local guy or load up and head for the clinic.

She has some sort of inflammatory process going on, we're now thinking viral since her CBC came back normal. Her serum amyloid, which is an indicator for infection and is normally 0-10, was 1887. She had a temp of 104 and bilateral cellulitis of the hind legs. In all honesty, her being in the stall and stocking up was a blessing in disguise because the swelling never went down and I ended up calling the vet because of it. She never went off her feed and never acted "off". Her poop was normal, she was peeing the same and she wasn't febrile the day before the vet came out. I had to be at work the morning the vet came out super early so my husband went to feed and I didn't get a temp that morning. The swelling was likely caused from her lymphatic system being overloaded from whatever viral infection she has going on. Her fever is down now. Sweated her legs and they are now back to normal. She seems to be doing better =

Glad that shes doing better, just so much better having the vet run tests to find out whats going on. Did she/vet put your filly on any kind of meds?

Banamine for the fever and antibiotics at first because he was initially thinking bacterial infection. When he got back to the clinic is when he ran the CBC and it came back normal which is why he's now thinking viral.
