I know his history forward and backward. Most decorated soldier of World War II. Jimmy Cagney introduced him to Hollywood. He never made a movie I didn't see. Excellent rider and didn't have to pretend to be a fast gun in his westerns.....he was.
Yep! Love that book and the movie. He's just a really neat person. |

I was able to click on the jpg file and zoom in. I loved it!! I'm so glad you thought of me. I love all things military and that is something I love to read about. I had no idea there was a hospital named after Audie! I have read just about everything on him, but didn't know that! Audie loved horses. Not sure if anyone really knew that. He used to race some as well. Here is a really neat website about him. http://www.audiemurphy.com/photo_hor.htm
I remember you talking about being a history buff and why you named your big boy Audie, so I thought this might interest you. Glad it contained something new you didn't know about him (the hospital)!!! The things y'all have said about the man make me want to learn more, so I'm gonna find some literature and start studying up!!
Miss Roxie and Total Performance are my go-to ladies when I need pics put on here, so I sure appreciate them. |

"Heck's Coming With Me"

Location: Kansas | He rode a bay with a lot of white on his face, not bald but a wide blaze I guess you might say, in many of his westerns. His name was Joe Queen and he had to pull him up in many chase scenes (they say) because he was so much faster than the other horses they couldn't fit them all in the picture. |

Don't read a biography called "No Name On the Bullet" about Audie. It shows a darker side. I didn't like it. |

I haven't yet. He had a temper per interviews of the men that fought along side him. Seems he didn't like his boys getting killed and would get pretty mad. He also suffered terrible with PTSD, but of course it didn't have a name back then. He looks so darn young, even years after the war. He had to be a fierce man to get so many other men his age or older even, to respect his orders. |

I know it's hard to read, but when I saw it I thought of Krystal and her Audie. I thought she would like to see that the hospital named after Mr Murphy helped make a dying soldier's wish come true---and it involved horses. Just wanted to post it for her!! It says: Audie L Murphy Memorial VA hospital fulfilled paralyzed Vietnam War veteran Roberto Gonzale's dying wish on May 21---one last meeting with his horses Ringo and Sugar. He passed away two days after the reunion. I of course squalled, but then thought of "our" BHW Audie. . . . It was one of People magazine's 2016 "Year in Pictures".
My family knew this man. About 10 years ago I had been wanting an Aussie shepard and he gave me one. I never met him myself but my parents had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. |

I had never heard of him before Krystal talked about him and her Audie, named after him. Now I can't wait to learn more. |
