Location: Armuchee, GA, NW section of Ga | Yep, the prices are wayyy over the top. I have a 2012 F450, very very low miles that I pull my trailer with. It cost new about 65k. I will not be buying another even tho I love mine. Vehicles cost too much, I cannot justify it. |

Location: n.c. | We have a 99 F-350 duallie and an 02 F250. Both with the 7.3. Cannot justify the price hikes on the new trucks. These two are still going strong and we'll just stick with them. |

Location: Louisiana | That's why we bought a used truck earlier this year. Paid $30k for it with over 100k miles on it. It pained me not to have something new with a warranty, but we just couldn't do it.
Then there are ppl like my father who buys a brand new one when his current one hits 50k miles lol. |

Location: My Own Little World | I can't even justify $30K on a used truck. I have a 94' F350 7.3 that we paid $3800 for whenit had 112k on it and it's at 230K now. I'd LOVE to have a newer one but I can do A LOT of work to the truck I own for that $700/ month folks are paying on newer trucks |

| My Ford is an '06 and hubby's Dodge is an '03. Both have beds rusting out. My truck has 197K on it and I have had to do MORE repairs on it (and the Dodge with less miles) than when I used to put 250-350K every 4 years on one. But both these trucks are here until they completely fall apart. When we can justify it each will get a new bed. Like someone else said, I can do a LOT of repairs for that $700-1000 a month truck payment.
I have been saying that my next pulling vehicle will be a semi....can be bought for a LOT less money than a used truck, remove one of the drive axles, have a sleeper built right on and I get my manual tranny. |

You must live in cold country where they use salt on the roads.
One of the best perks about moving south is not having our vehicles rust out. Our truck is a 2001 Dodge Dually and it doesn't have any rust on it.

Location: Southern Indiana | It's absolutely ridiculous what a new one cost and it's stupid that it cost $10-20k more for leather and bucket seats. Used ones with high miles are still way over priced. It's hard to find a used gem, but that's about the only option. |

Same. We just bought a 95 F250 with 60k mikes on it for $9k. Drives likes a DREAM and the hubby who uses it as a daily driver to his job 3 miles away absolutely adores it. |

When suffering from sticker shock or ego paralysis ...
instead of thinking about buying an over priced extended warranty ..
Instead buy some mortgage or life insurance because the next sticker
shock is going to be when they tell you the warranty won't cover
the huge repair bill they hand you ...

We have been SO lucky---everything that we had to do to the dually was covered under extended warranty until now. We bought it in 2012 (it's 08 F350)with around 50000 miles on it, and that warranty has paid for itself probably 3 times over. Now tho it has 114000 miles and no warranty---I'm already dreading Tuesday when they give us an idea what's wrong. . . . Like someone else said, we'll be driving this one til it falls apart. (Lord, let that be many years from now. Cheap years from now!!!) |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | I had my oil changed the other day at the dealership. I walked around and looked at prices on trucks and WOW! While I was inside waiting, I talked to two guys with F250's and one with a SUV, all talking about either problems they were having or trading in due to problems. I just smiled and drove off in my trouble-free sixteen year old truck. I'll have my 7.3 for a long time (hopefully). |

| If you are patient and look for awhile you can find AWESOME deals on trucks. We had to buy one in February after a head on collision totaled our '08 dodge that was paid for. We bought a '14 dodge ram dually 28k miles, fully loaded save the moon roof for 47k. We don't buy new. Let someone else eat depreciation. I'm in Texas so there is a ton of trucks to choose from. |

but I've found so many of the southern trucks are only 2WD. I won't buy new either - refuse to pay that for a truck. My 01 Dodge Cummins is a great truck but I need a dually now w/the bigger trailer so will be selling it & buying a different one, and it will have to be purchased out our way so it's not been in the darn road salt too! Am at my mom's & noticed her car is getting rust inside the doors, etc from all the **** salt in MI! |

Mine is 4WD. I've found the opposite to be true here. Almost all are 4WD. |

that is good to know! when I had looked before, most of the 1T duallys were 2WD. I know I want a truck that has not been near any of the flooding areas or from snow/salt areas. :) |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | Most trucks I see down here are 4x4. Need it for mud and you don't get decent resale without.
I shopped for used trucks last winter and got sticker shocked. People asking new prices for trucks with 60,000 miles. The only decently priced one I looked at was a year old, had 85,000 miles and had been used hard/put up wet...rear seal was leaking and it had some major blowby. We fixed mine instead. It's a 2010 Duramax that was a salvage so I got it cheap, but the guy that fixed it took some short cuts. |

You must be younger. $47K is NOT a great deal in my book! |
