How about getting some coppertox and soaking some cotton balls and stuff them into the clef of the frog daily. I bet those heels would eventually even up/out.
Shocked your shoer didn't explain the importance of killing off the thrush.
Well the thrush is actually a brand new thing that developed two weeks ago. We've had mud up to our ears in every field this winter its crazy! Unfortunately this particular gelding likes to stand right under where he poops in the mud all day everyday -_-
The uneven feet have been a problem since he was born or so I've been told from the person who bought him as a weanling.
He has only had 3 owners and all of us have struggled with his weird-o feet.
Oh and to specify that is the frog of the foot with sooooo much heel. He normally never has a thrush problem but always has high low problem.

One farrier actually recommended wedges to crush the heel and make it match the other one so it would be underslung too.

| Okay on the thrush here has been my routine since I caught it and put him in a stall outta the wet.
Pick out hooves am and pm.
Stall is bedded with those pellets on the bottom and shavings on top bc this guy just pees wayyyy to much and those pellets really help soak it up.
Its picked out am and pm and I mean I'm restless trying to keep it as dry and clean as possible I mean i've been hand picking the lil niblets that the fork don't get.
In the evening I use tomorrow and put a cotton ball in afterwards. In the mornings I spray with bleach.
It. Won't. Go. Away. and keeping in theme " just like these whining democrats" HAHA

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | To beable to really get rid of the thrush you need to clean the frogs and heel buds good I would get a small brush and clean all the dead stuff off of the frogs and heels, thrush gets up in all those cracks and hides out. And then I would do the soaked cotton balls on him. I would not be suprised if he got sore on you with how unblanced looking his feet are, poor fella..

Location: Opelousas, LA | White Lightning and vinegar soaks will get rid of the thrush, best to do them barefoot though. I don't think barefoot will help your horse as much as gluing on some flexible shoes. I like the Flexx Sport best, having a shoe glued to the heels will help keep the heels on the one foot from crushing and the flexible shoe will help the contracted heels on the other foot. Also, with the glue ons you can get the breakover a little farther back on the crushed heel foot. I live in swampy south Louisiana and have found that gluing shoes on a properly prepared foot actually is better for the feet than nailing shoes on and have had no issues with the mud. I would use them more often, but gluing shoes on is a huge PITA, nailing is much easier. |

You meant to say ring worm not round worm, right? Ring worm is a fungus, round worms are the ones inside horses gut.. |

| I would pull the shoes, as the shoes IMO are too small, and do not give enough heel support.
My vet who is also a certified farrier told me that 1/8" of the shoe should be exposed all the way around the foot to allow for expansion and contraction. When we did this with my one who was contracted, I thought for sure he would pull a shoe, and he never did.
Also the one that is high, he is very underslung, the best thing I have seen work for this is to cut the heel down to the sole, you need to change the direction the foot grows and it is going to take a good 1yr to 18 months to change it.
I always trim my horses every 4 weeks, and mine are barefoot. When we did have shoes on my one, we were resetting him ever 4 weeks as well, if you leave them longer the direction of the growth gets pulled forward.
I went to a natural farrier seminar last year, and I learned if you get your farrier to rasp from the toe to the heel, it will actually pull the foot back more then you think. The farrier doing the seminar did before and after photos, and only rasped half of the foot from toe to heel, even I could see a significant difference. |

I don't want to lose any time on him this spring and summer as I just figured out his freaking allergy issues and he is actually breathing unimpaired!!!
Okay plan of action. I need a trump style plan of action. I' so scared of barefoot, him getting sore, staying sore....i'm a shoe person! |

I always kept shoes on him but he was always a little off/sore, then he founder but not a real bad founder he was so sore and was always moving from one hoof to the other while he ate.. Found out he could not handle being on pasture, green grass and getting his feed twice a day he was over loading on sugar, so pulled his shoes, no pasture changed his feed to a low strach low sugar, and now I'm riding him again and not sore at all and hes barefoot, hes feeling so much better now being barefooted and I thought he needed shoes all these years because he does have a thin sole, wrong.. My point is sometimes its better they are barefooted so their feet can grow natural, no more shoes for him and I pulled all the shoes off my others and I have a good farrier thats doing a good job of doing a barefooted trim on them. It didnt happen over night to get them use to being barefooted, but it was a good move for my horses..
Edit to add" I used my PHT bellboots on him too during healing him up from the founder and hes still wears them at times, I truely believe in these boots..

There is not "Trump Plan" Seeing those feet, my guess is he would fail a lamness exam and be diagnosed with caudal heel pain, due to the contraction and some vets would say navicular (navicular can be the result of long term contracted heels)
If you want to keep shoes on, and want to help your horse, be prepared to spend a lot of money.
You will need to see an equine podiatrist, have xrays at each shoeing, and your resets should be 3-4 weeks religiously.
It is not easy, I fought with mine for a year, then pulled shoes and couldn't be happier. I spent 500 on front shoes monthly, as I said it isn't cheap. |

| I have a gelding that sounds like yours.
I actually put boots on my guy when he's in his stall or his feet will get the gook!
And I still use the Thrushbuster too. Several times a week.
Per my vet, I also soak his feet in an epsom salt iodine mix every few days. |

I had PHT bells once upon a time and sold them because they were used all to heck and a girl offered me exactly what I paid so I was like sure since they were 3 years old.
Fast forward to now. Holy Moly they are even more expensive and I dunno if I can pay that....I might have to get a second job working on Trumps wall to afford them, the shoe jobs, the vet work, and the supplements for this season. This big ol turd better at least win some money back for me... |
