Location: Idahome | FLITASTIC - 2017-04-06 10:12 AM I noticed that Gateway products are NASC. They are good and I have used them in the past. And as far as I can tell, Santa Cruz animal health does NOT have NASC. I also noticed OE products are not NASC, THE is not NASC that I can see? Could have missed it though Here is a list of the sealed NASC members: http://nasc.cc/members/ I am also not saying that some non-NASC companies are bad, just that they don't have the guidelines to follow (yet) and make claims that they really aren't allowed to be making. At some point in time the FDA will find them. It happened to us years ago. ETA: It looks like OE is on the list, but doesn't have the seal yet. They are probably going through the process of getting it.

| There is one tiny little detail that bugs me, Glucosamine HCL is not very absorbable into the horse, but Glucosamine SULFATE is. I won't feed anything that uses HCL and many many of these companies use that. Just a little detail.
And I just looked at the List of NASC members and Santa Cruz animal health IS ON IT....

My vet likes Platinum CJ. Β He said if a supplement doesn't have MSM and avacado in it it's no good. Β I've been looking and so far Platinum is the one that has both. Β
Has anyone on here tried the Santa Cruz Animal health version???? Essentially " Copied" all of Platinum's formulas and did it legally because they offer the product in PELLET form and not meal form like Platinum. They are local to me here in CA. But if you compare ingredient lists, they are IDENTICAL. Just wondered if anyone has used both. The Santa cruz version is quite a bit cheaper. The " CJ" version is 150 from platinum and 100 from Santa Cruz.
They may be identical according to label, but do they carry the NASC seal? Purity/Quality of the ingredients determine their strength and potency prior to formulation. Platinum, MVP, and other supplement companies are members of NASC which guarantees what is on the label is what you are getting. The NASC seal assures customers of the products forumla content.
Just Looked Santa Cruz IS ON THE NASC list, just doesnt list it on labeling that I can see. but they are there! |

| I tried Platinum CJ with no luck plus my horse wouldn't eat it.
I've been using MVP Exceed 6-Way for over 2 years and have had great results. I printed out the label and went over it with my vet. Her main comment was that when feeding a joint supplement it's crucial that it has Vitamin C which works as an antioxidant that older horses need (younger horses make enough of their own); 6 Way has the Vit C.
Here are the key factors for joints and 6 Way has them all: (contact me to order!)
Glucosamine Sulfate 12,000 mg
MSM 10,000 mg
Yucca Schidigera Extract 5,000 mg (anti-inflammatory)
Hyaluronic Acid 125 mg
Ascorbic Acid (Vit. C) 2,000 mg
Chondroitin Sulfate 500 mg
I would add I also have my oldest mare on a regime of Adequan, which I also recommend.
