My gelding is a picky eater so I will be introducing it very slowly anyway, to make sure he eats it.

Black pepper contains a compound called piperine. Piperine stops the liver from converting the active ingredient in Turmeric,(curcumin) to a form that is mostly eliminated from the body. As a result, in the proper amount it keeps the curcumin in a form that allows more to be used by the body rather than eliminate it. |

Can you give an approximate date your new product will be released? Also what else is coming? |

I am not a banner advertiser on the site, and don't want to cause a problem. I try to mostly help our customers, many of whom visit this site, with honest answers to their technical questions without it being a product ad. We will do a banner here soon so that we can share product information without being in conflict with the rules, which I agree with. We do a lot of research with partners and look forward to sharing results on new feed and some effective health support formulations. I am not trying to be vague. I enjoy this forum and simply wish to be able to stay.

| r_beau - 2017-08-03 8:59 AM How much are you giving them? Grams?
I am going to start my gelding on it and see if I notice any changes in the coming weeks. Considered trying Curost but that is quite an investment, so I thought I would try the plain turmeric first and see what happens.
You will want to feed it with a fat source and also, FRESHLY ground pepper for best absorbency. This website is a great source. This is copied from http://turmericlife.com.au/turmeric-for-horses/how-to-feed-turmeric-for-horses/
This is copied from the website above THERE IS NO SET DOSE! The ratio to keep is:Note with OILS: You can use Micronised Linseed, BUT if using Micronised Linseed or fresh-ground linseeds, then use 3 times the amount of oil quoted. eg 10mls oil = 30 mls Micronised Linseed. Powerstance (a powdered coconut oil for horses) can also be used. - Get a measuring cup to keep in the feed shed.
- Add a dessert spoon (to start with) of TURMERIC POWDER to your cup.
- Add approximately 16 grinds of freshly ground cracked pepper AND some 5-10 mls of oil (coconut, olive or linseed) to your turmeric powder.
- Add some water and blend into a paste that can be mixed through the bulk of your horses feed.

I looked into CurOst and the only ingredient is Ashwaghanda root. So I ordered the powder on Amazon for $20 and it lasts me like 3 months at a time.
Which Cur-Ost product did you look at? |

| Regarding linseed oil.....beware. It is furniture polish and should not be fed to horses. Neither should "fish" oil. When was the last time you saw your horse down at the creek trying to catch and eat a fish? Never huh...because horses are not meat eaters. They are vegetarians. READ the labels. There is some nasty stuff out there.

Isn't linseed just a different word used for flax? |

Flaxseed and linseed oil are derived from the flax plant BUT they are processed differently. MOST linseed uses a petroleum solvent to extract the oil, making it inedible.
So, in short, flaxseed= dietary supplement vs linseed= paint thinner. |
