| I think it depends on producer/event. All the shows I've been to produced by NBHA/IBRA (in Northeast Ohio) have dragged every 5 or so.
However, when I was in 4H, we were lucky to have the arena dragged ONCE during the ENTIRE event (dozens of timed event classes, btw). I know 4H is different from dedicated associations but, you know....

| I'm not sure where you're running at but I live in New York, run in PA all the time (at least once a month), and in Ohio too, and everywhere I go they drag after whey 5, and big drags every 40 or 50 as well as between classes. We haul every weekend.
Feel free to pm me if you want to know good shows to go to. |

Why is this not nice? I could pick out everyone's grammar errors like they do mine but there is not that much time in the day. Very sad someone cannot be complimentary. Wow |

People may not care at that way you choose to make fun of others, but some do notice.I don't see people picking on your grammer mistakes. In fact ,I don't really see anyone pick on you at all,but yet you put it in your posts all the time. |

I agree, I am in Maine and its usually 5-7. At the championship show or large money show its always been after every 5. |

| classicpotatochip - 2017-09-21 1:14 PM I'm in Pennsylvania working on a project and have been since the spring. I have went to several jackpots around the region, and there is one striking difference between running barrels anywhere else in the nation as compared to the north east region...the drag. Y'all only drag every 8-15 horses. What's up with that? One jackpot in Ohio I attended ran 60 horses and didn't drag once. The norm seems to be every 12 horses, with the occasional drag 8. I have seen, and done it myself, that the horse on the top of the ground win the race. Wouldn't that be enough to convince the population in general to drag every five? I have also asked, casually, around the warm up pens why the people running don't demand a change? I have gotten everything from shrugs to defensiveness? I really really care about my horses legs and I just cannot understand not dragging every five? I get the whole, "Well, at rodeos..." My answer there is that I'm not AT a rodeo, I'm at a jackpot. Jackpots ought to have better ground, hence the saying, "Trashy rodeo ground". Would anyone like to weigh in?
Agree, I have never understood the comparison between rodeo and jackpot ground-they are completely different. I answer the same as you, if I wanted to worry about ground I would be at a rodeo but I am at a jackpot where they only have one event. |

| Well, I'm in Iowa. Depending on arena and producer, we drag every 5-7. Local shows usually drag after 10. Our PRCA rodeo drags after 6 I think, which splits the perf in 1/2. I'm on the Great Lakes Circuit page and they are talking about dragging after so many at all of the rodeos. Even the PRCA is realizing these horses are worth Buku bucks and are starting to take care of them.
Not dragging after 60 is simply WAY old fashioned. When I was a kid this is the way it was, but it hasn't been this way around here for probably a couple of decades. |

I had all I wanted of watching barrel racers being allowed to "pick" their positions. Top of the ground for every horse in their trailer. That's why I'm kickin' back and lovin' major league baseball and my nearby casino.

Full disclosure, I had to google it so I will not be winning any awards, lol, but I don't think she was being rude, you used "dragged" correctly as opposed to saying "drug" every five runs. |

Streaky was actually being complimentary (nice). It's just that we are so used to everyone sniping at each other that we mistake an actual compliment as underhanded sarcasm. How freaking sad for this forum. |

Jake is a very sweet and protective kinda of lady, if she feels like someone is being picked on he will say something unless its something that needed to be said, lol.. But the mommy came out in her in this. So nothing wrong with that. I like seeing mommy cat taking care of their kittens
