The fact that this topic actually generates a debate tells me all I need to know about the IQ of an average human being. This is why fat burning pills, essential oils, and vibrating plates are selling so well.

That deal was going around 25 years ago at the hospital where I worked.  It had the administration all up in arms.  More than a few people lost their $100.

NJJ - 2018-01-08 8:28 AM I debated whether or not to start a thread about these but .......

BEWARE: Anyone else seeing this all over their social media the last couple days? Basically, you put $100 into this scheme through paypal and you get more people to join and they put $100 in and once all of the "levels" get filled the person in the middle level gets all of the combined total ($800) and they fall off the spot and everyone moves up one level, the more people who join the faster you move up to get the $800. THIS is a perfect example of a pyramid scheme!!! AND is ILLEGAL in every state ..... there will ALWAYS be a loser in this "money scheme" when people are no longer entering it !!!!

I can NOT believe the number of people SUCKING their family and friends in only to make their money.....wake up folks...if you are at the bottom getting in you are padding their pockets and you will LOSE money! Additionally, one person has posted that the scheme has been reported to the FCC....

I've been seeing this dang near everyday...by one girl in particular.  There is no way I would fall into something like this.  I can find alot better things to spend $100 on.

mandita8907 - 2018-01-08 9:37 AM I mean its not a scam.. its a form of gambling. Just like going to a barrel race and gambling your money on a 4d set up lol. Yes it is illegal but you DO NOT have to participate. So dont poop in others cheerios.
No comparison, a 4D is like  gambling or a lottery, if your time is the lucky time, has  no dependency on others continuing to participate.   This is a pyramid scam that falls apart as soon as participants quit contributing.
My point is that it is a gamble just like you are gambling your entry fees for a lucky time or clean run. Not saying it is the exact same thing on every level but both are a gamble. Not a scam

If you still insist that it is NOT a scam please read the article below ..... ANY pyramid scheme is a "scam" and has legal repercussions ..... I read on FB that a few people have reported this scam (and some of those participating) to the FCC ...... no matter if it is $5 or $5000 ..... it is illegal and a scam ......

Old enough to have seen this many times before.. seems to be a trend that comes around when you have a new 'crop' young enough to fall for it.  It is not a gamble it is a scam. Don't fall for it and don't push it to the people  who don't know better or you should be ashamed of yourself.

No, it’s not even CLOSE to being the same. Google Ponzi Scheme. That is what this thing is and it’s HIGHLY illegal. It was a scam in 1920 and it’s still a scam in 2018.

ETA- it has now hit the news channels in Montana that it’s a scam. So while YOU may not think it is...the Federal Government clearly thinks otherwise. Good luck fighting them and telling them it’s not a scam, lol!

I’ll even save you time:

There are lots of work from home companies that are basically pyramid schemes.  Mary Kay is probably the worst. but there are lots more.  Don't fall for anything that seems too good to be true, because it isn't.

Mary Kaye, Amway, THRIVE, Primerica - ALL pyramids "guaranteed" to make you rich quick all from the comfort of home! It's funny, you hear ALL about how someone is JUST about to get a FREE car from their successes - then you NEVER see it! Ha!

you are wrong on Mary kay - it is not a scheme - when you become a consultant you get the same discount as the person who sponsored you into the company - you can build your own customer base - you can pass your recruiter and win a car or become a director before she does if you work harder than she does, and when you come into the company you have product to sale - it is a direct selling company when i come into the company I have product to sale.  also when you come in it is your choice at which level of product inventory you wish to start with or no product inventory at all - your choice.  educate yourself before you slam a good company.

Griz - for your info - I "earned" (worked for it and my team, but they in turn could earn one to, and I helped them achieve whatever goal they set out to do) 3 cars with mary Kay (there was no winning a car)  so yes, it does happen - and yes I worked my business - you can go as fast as you wish or have a small circle of friends and customers that you wish to take care of.    We had a lady in my unit that alls he wanted to do whas take care of her few customers and friends and she was happy - so you can make this business what you want.

It makes me angry when people speak and think they know when they don't know how any of this works.  I meet the lady her self Mary Kay - and she was a was very kind loving woman who believed that every woman should not be held down by what a man thought her place was at home or in the glass ceiling belief.   As she raised 3 boys on her own - after her husband left her she did all the training of men where she worked, she trained them, and they got the promotions - so she created Mary Kay.  I  take her philisophy pretty seriously and always honored how she impressed upon how we were to do our business.   Granted - ther are some bad apples in Mary kay -

My mother worked mary kay for years and was very very successful at it. Please note i said WORKED!!! She worked her butt off.... On the phone, doing classes/makeovers, training, traveling to help new consultants. I dont recall us ever having a car payment the entire time I was at home from 3rd grade till i graduated. She drove caddy's that she earned (yes earned from the works she did) from the company.

For those of you doubters, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but just because it's not a path you choose to venture down does NOT make it a schemm. Any more then sales people (cars/bridal/reality) earning commissions off of what they sale.

You must live under a rock. You haven't seen all those pretty pink Caddies running around town? I can assure you that none of those people got them from sitting around waiting to get rich in the comfort of their homes. When I see one of the Caddies, my first thought is "I wonder how many hours they had to put in to get THAT???" Mary Kay has been around for over 50 years. If it was a pyramid scheme it would have died off years ago.

Good grief. I can't believe people are getting involved in this crap and then have the nerve to involve their friends and family. Same goes for those MLM businesses. I get so many people on my Facebook asking me to buy their crap, go to their party to buy more crap. Stupid! Now I just tell people when they contact me with this silly BS to just not contact me if all they want from me is money. And I am not going to enable their poor financial choices.

I don’t think pyramid schemes should be outlawed.
You can’t legislate intelligence and good judgement.
People need to suffer the consequences of thier stupidity. That’s the best way to get rid of pyramid schemes. If you squander $100 because you allowed yourself to get sucked in to some scheme and you learn from it, you are using your brain. If you don’t learn from it, you are already being punished. The world is full of businesses that depend on stupidity. We’ve (hopefully) all been to that party.
Those who refuse to learn from their stupidity will remain stupid.
At least they contribute to the economy. We need dumb people.
I like to think of it as a form of natural selection.

I was curious (and bored) in the Dr's office waiting room so I googled... I read an article saying that there is only 1300 pink MK caddies in the United States "currently " on the road. Man, those ladies must hustle their rearends off to get those cars!

no 1dsoon - it isn't - direct selling company - you come - you sell the same product and the same discount  that I would sell it at.  IF I sponsor you in and you sell more than me - yeah for you - you can pass me at any time  and fo up the ladder and surpass me if that is what you want.   you are always so negative.
