Location: Peg-Leg Julia Grimm | I used them without incident. Others like me don't like their whole foot shoved up to the heel of your boot in the stirrup. The way I did my rubber bands, they didn't do that. I put two light weight rubber bands looped together to make one. I put one rubber band around my ankle the other I would either put around the outside of the stirrup to my boot toe or under the stirrup to the boot toe. This way didn't shove my foot forward into the stirrup farther than I wanted it.
I think people need to mind their own business. I find in every single thing, if anyone doesn't "think" you should do it, they have to try to bully you not to. MYOB |

Always used them; don't run barrels anymore but my daughter does. The way we put them on, you can just pull your foot backwards and get them off.
Loop two rubberbands together. Put one over the toe of your boot. Then put your foot in the stirrup, and pull the bottom band over the bottom of your stirrup and back over the toe of the boot.
That's how I always do mine. You can actually get your foot out of the stirrup if you need to & they break easier IMO. |

| What really got me with this lady, was when she posted, that if you have to use rubber bands you don't need to be barrel racing. Really?? I mean, come on. She sat astride one of my barrel horses a couple of years ago & I told her the horse was quick & catty & you'd come out from under her. She said.....Oh, I use to barrel race years ago, I got this. She did fair on the first but when the horse got to the 2nd she dropped & turned out from under her & she acted like it was the horses fault. I told her......"You were warned" SMH!! |

People who spout this garbage just prove they've never been competitive in the sport. Let em talk and show their ignorance. |

Location: Nebraska | I just do my toes. I had a bad wreck a couple years ago when I broke 3 bones in my arm. My rubber bands broke and were not an issue. |

Again I will say that the opinion of someone who has no knowledge of the horse, rider or extenuating circumstances is 100% worthless. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Barrel racing is a timed event...Not a judged event. You do what it takes to win and not be in the way of your horse. If you lose a stirrup you sure aren't helping your horse any...no matter how well you ride. |
