You delivered the first time, tell her to bring the gelding back and pick up the mare. You traded a registered gelding who you knew was quirky for essentially a grade mare who sounds equally as quirky and may be worse.
There is a so many red flags I'd be trading back and quick. Something is wrong with this person so I'd quickly make arrangements to undo this deal and then contact the previously interested parties and let them know he's available for sale.

Agreed 100%, I told her earlier today to just bring him back and we will move on. That's when she came back with well what would it take to just buy him and I come pick up the mare. If you really didn't want him and the fact he may or may not be blind in his eye why would you continue to try and figure out a way to keep him?! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I would just get my colt back and let her take her mare back, I dont deal with someone thats finding fault in something that they wanted in the first place. I can tell you now this women will be nothing but problems for you you need to just nip this in the bud and get it over with..Or you will have nothing but more problems latler down the road with her.. When you get your colt back just put him up for sale and get him sold and with the money go get something you want and pay cash no more trading, sometimes trading can be really good and sometimes it can haunt you for a very lonnnnggg time. Oh and SMH too, lol..

She now wants to buy the colt outright for way less than I was asking and come pick up the mare. I'm so puzzled by this whole deal.
Tell her no. Get your colt back. You never recieved papers on the mare correct?
I would just get the colt back, get a vet check because goodness gracious...he could have poked his eye at her place, colts are such handfuls at times, and then move on with your business.....elsewhere |

| Good Morning All!
Update as of today, I sent her a message on Tuesday that I would not be accepting her cash offer on the colt and she needs to bring him back to me asap (like yesterday since most everyone had the day off work). I have not heard a word from her since then, so the likelihood of seeing the colt again are slim I feel like. |

I'd be hooking on to my horse trailer and driving the 6 hours to get your colt. Load up the mare, drop her off, and get your colt back. Your name is on that colt's papers, if you have to get a police escort, do it. And I wouldn't announce my arrival either. |

Location: NW MT | sounds like a real mess! I would call the Sheriff's Dept where she lives & explain the situation & ask if you can get an officer to go w/you to stand by. MOST will do that. Then go do it. that way, you can press charges on the spot if she has your colt hidden, etc. |

| Update:
Almost a week later and still nothing back from her, I do not have the colt back or has she sent me the papers on the mare. We met halfway on the trade so there is no way of knowing exactly where the colt will be. What would you do at this point? Let it be and just consider the mare grade?! She is bred too well and her siblings are all proven 1D horses that sell in the 5 figure money, so I am taking a big loss on not getting the papers. |

How would you know how she is bred never seeing papers on this mare? I really have my doubts this mare is reg. in the first place.. I would never take someones word on something like this unless papers are in hand. Just caulk this up as a lesson, dont take someones word unless theres proof.. Hugs to you but I dont think theres anything you can do at this point.

Yep, there may have never been papers to begin with. I really hope the mare is bred the way you think she is, but at this point, I'd be questioning that too. |

Did you give her papers and transfer on the colt? NEVER do that when you haven't gotten the same thing in return. It's your only leverage.
ETA: It really sucks that you have to MAKE people do the right thing anymore. It really does. But I don't even give papers and transfer to my friends when they buy/trade horses with me until I get what I need and was agreed on.

I did some digging and found her breeder's website and the pictures on the site do confirm this mare's breeding. It's a lesson learned for sure, just frustrating that you can't trust anyone anymore. |
