Vetrolin products have PBA sunscreen in them. I've been using their shampoo and Shine Spray (detangler) lately. The Mane N Tail always makes their hair really soft too. I also have that Shampoo and spray detangler as well. Really like both of these.

Is the skin dry or the hair it self? I have used coconut oil too. Its good when the skin in a little dry at the base. Do you shampoo them often? That could be stripping the natural oils.

I have been having good luck with Cantu conditioner and shampoo. I'm not gonna lie, I pick up SheaMoisture masks for my horses and put a hair mask in from time to time as well. It really helps. I like a silicone free conditioner (and mask) followed up with Cowboy Magic. I feel like I need something to help "lock in" the moisture and Cowboy Magic does that because it is silicone based. The problem with silicone is that it creates a layer on the hair and won't let moisture in. So if you use a conditioner with silicone and then try to add in a leave-in product, the leave it can't do its job because it's just sitting on the silicone.

Premier Equine Rose Conditioner. I won' use anything else. My gelding was itching his tail out on top. Ran fecals, d wormed, had sheath cleaned and still would rub his tail figured this hot humid weather was the issue. Since I've started using it on his tail hes quit itching. I use it on mane and tail and the whole body... its non slip and smells amazing! I buy online by the gallon. I love this stuff!
,

Perfect!!! That’s exactly what I’m looking for. My mare has started to rub her tail and I did same thing. Wormed , not allergies etc. lol I’m going to try it !

I use this stuff called Nu Stock when mine rub their tails. IT WORKS! I think its sulfur based and it says its actually supposed to help hair grow back. I'll put it on a time or 2 and they'll quit rubbing. I honestly think they rub from dirty, dry skin. Or ticks will do it too.

Healthy Hair moisturizer. LOVE IT! It comes concentrated so you just mix 1 part with 8 parts water, and spray it all over your horse, or wherever you want it. I don't use any other conditioner on them. Makes them super shiny and doesn't leave any residue.  I bought a big jug a couple years ago, and I've still got a good half jug left. It lasts a long time.

Griz - 2018-08-07 11:08 AM I use "It's a 10" on my hair - LOVE it. I think you can get it at Walmart but it's not cheap! I get it from my hairdresser because she gets a discount at the beauty supply store.
Awww thank you, I will go take a look at Wal-Mart and see if I can find it, need to get some more Sauve anyways, lol.. We do have a beauty supply store in front of Wal-Mart so if I cant find it at wal mart I;ll go over there, thank you

i buy it from my stylist. It’s spendy, but it’s amazing. They make a hair mask too that would be awesome. Since I only give like one bath per month for like 4 or 5 months, I can justify the cost.

Bought some Its A Ten at Wal-Mart today and WOWZ , IT IS expensive, lol so I'll just be useing a tiny bit and I dont wash tails all that offten anyways so I'll be useing it on my hair most of the time, lol..
It is a great de-tangler for my hair - I can hardly comb my wet hair without it!
Not to hijack the thread with hair care, but I suppose you could use it on your horse too....Redkins One United 25 Benefits is absolutely amazing for getting out the tangles and it's about $35 for a big ole bottle of it. You can't overuse it like you can with Its a 10. If I use too much Its a 10 it weighs my hair down and makes it feel nasty. But i've found the opposite with 25 Benefits.
Hey WYO - is the Redkin a spray in too? I'm interesting in trying this!
It sure is:)

Thanks for the info!
