mtcanchazer - 2018-10-24 9:52 PM Thanks all...didn't get them in the mail today because I couldn't get out of work in time, so tomorrow it is. But I'm sending them certified/return receipt just like if it was a title to a car so I know they get them! I am so paranoid about paperwork, it isn't funny, LOL.
Just make a copy of them so just in case something does go wrong..Better to be on the safe side.
Already did!

I didn't know you could email them and get it done! How?!

I have no ideal on the email I just do old school. Go to their website and look there, I'm sure all the information would be there.
But I'm older and just like doing things the old way, LOL

I found out that it depends on who you are. I used to get nearly all paper work back within two weeks. Ever since I questioned where the judges were at a 4 judge and why AQHA rules were not followed, my paperwork takes months now. Never heard one word from AQHA on that

Im my experience .... 3-4 weeks to 9 and a half months, not including the ones i never did get .... I have had papers take over 2 months even WITH paying for rush transfers.
AQHA is by far the worst breed association I have to deal with regularly in terms of organisation and efficiency at processing paperwork and willingness to help when there are issues.

I usually get mine back within a couple of weeks. I always mail them in a priority flat rate envelope-cheaper than certified but still can track it.
They are faster than APHA

I've never had any problems getting mine back within 2-3 weeks.  If I'm in a hurry I will do a rush and they'll be back within a week!

I looked on their website, couldn't find anything about emailing it. Maybe for new registrations?

Well, it's sent, we'll see what happens and hope it comes back soon!

The timing on your returned paperwork will 100% be dependent on who you deal with .... if you have any corrections or changes on the work sent in, be prepared to wait MONTHS.

AQHA routinely looses checks, claims not to have pictures or paperwork (that was sent in the same envelope), and different sections do not communicate at all.

I am currently still trying to get a routine transfer with an updated registration back after submitting it in May. To be polite, they are a mess.

[email protected] and put horses name and registration number in title. Scan all docs and send it in that way. No paper copies mailed to them. They will charge your card if you put it on the papers or call you to get your card number. They mail it back.

And this is NOT just for new registrations, by the way. I did 3 transfers (all for one horse) and a request for duplicate papers via this method. They told me that paper processing was slower and they could handle emails more efficiently.

Thanks much!

Now I'm nervous...had a correction to the registration along with a transfer...some white on one of his feet was missed as a baby. Yikes.

Bringing up an old topic here... but someone had said transfer reports can be submitted online. I emailed AQHA and asked what I needed to send them to transfer two horses and got an email back saying everything has to be mailed in with original transfer forms and registration papers. Is this correct? They also said the fee is $75 for nonmembers and the transfer form says it’s $60.

I was told to email all scanned documents. I received a bill for the amount due and when I called to give them my card to pay that, they released the finished papers the next couple of days. I never had to mail in any actual paper docs. I don't recall what I paid. I became a member when I submitted the transfer of ownership and request for replacement papers. Please see my post from awhile back with detailed instructions. It was very fast for me! I didnt know about emailing at all until I happened to call a second or third time and the guy on the phone gave me that opiton.

There is a current AQHA RULE BOOK online and you can also order the book of rules on the AQHA site by clicking on the order form and submitting your address.

AQHA sends emails to members all the time with different data and other information along with various articles you can log on to.  One of the data points recently was on delayed transfers and registrations not being completely filled out or different owner on transfer than the one they have on record.  Or the photos had the feet or ears cutoff or were not in the correct positions as stated in the rule book.   OR .. lack of a quick response with needed information to continue the registration.  These minor points were 87% of the delays in getting a horse registered in their normal 17 day turnaround.  As slow as the USPS is .. you need to deduct 10 days off the time it takes to get your papers back ... mail takes 5-6 days to and from AQHA and new owner. = 10-12 days

If you ask the AQHA representative nicely .... they will freeze the application and they will give you their email address to send new photos to them and they will put them into their data base to get the horse registered or color/markings changed .. be prompt on your needed corrections and things will continue very smoothly.

If your request involves anything that has already been registered you must send in the original papers along with the other necessary paperwork and lots of $$$$'s.

How many of you recall the hubbub on registrations being used at auctions with a lookalike horse or you got a fake registration certificate?

AQHA registration certificates has a heat sensitive AQHA logo on each certificate to certify it is real and not a good copy from a printer.  You can hold the registration certificate with your forefinger and thumb pressed on both sides of the certificate's logo and part of it will lighten up or disappear.

The last time AQHA slowed down to a crawl was also doing an upgrade on their computer systems... they hired some India Indians that could barely speak English and it appears like they hired the same group to do the upgrade that has fallen apart this time ...

FYI: Each time you call to discuss a file in progress the AQHA  rep will make a notation on that particular file as what needs to be done for it to continue thru their system.  And can be viewed by the rep if you should call again.

HORSEGIRL .. You were also asking for replacement papers .. so you had no registration papers to mail.

AQHA will accept email attachments of certain items just like they used to ask for a fax .. you probably sent a transfer and new photos for them to compare the horses markings on his old papers .. and an explanation on how papers were missing ..

AQHA is constantly changing their fees and there are a lot of older forms out there .. a quick way to check current fees is to look at or print the most recent forms from their site and pay the amount on the recent forms.

A lot of their pages are not working with their current problems and to get any info they left me hanging on a call back list until the next day and looked it up on their inhouse system.

I received a nice 35 year member certificate this week when it should be a 50 year certificate .. apparently they crashed the data for the 15-16 years my membership was under my ranch name... by todays rules there are no ranch memberships anymore.

BTW .. I am a life member of AQHA (fee $350 back then) and APHA.  APHA offered a lifetime subscription to the Paint Horse Journal to do a lifetime membership ($300 back in the day) which I still receive today.  I had to send in an affidavit when I sold the ranch and changed addresses to prove I was still alive to continue the journal  ... lol ..

I felt like an old horse that reaches 30 years old and if still alive you have to send in a yearly note saying horse is still alive or they will assume it is deceased.

That makes sense. You're right. I sent in 2 transfers. One from breeder to first owner, one from first owner to me. And at the same time, I sent in request for duplicate papers because the girl I bought him from had misplaced them. I did have to send new pics and the duplicate papers request form.

I have been a lifetime member forever and registered many foals. My daughter joined to register the filly from last year and it has been a complete nightmare. Of course she tried online in a timely matter they kept needing more which we had sent in the first time. After numerous calls they are saying they did not receive payment so wanting to charge us $170.00 instead of the $35.00.
We explained the cc number was sent to them in the beginning. Well they told us they wiped the slate clean when the new program started. I honestly think someone did not do their job and finish what was inhouse before this happened but is that our fault. They were very rude in the phone conversation acting like we were just newbies and rules had to be followed. Still pondering if I will even register this gal since she is a keeper  after all of this!  Not a big timer in the breeding world but expect fair treatment.
