Social media makes any and everything public. . . But the people I knew in high school would not have done this. . . We just wouldn't have dreamed of it. I have to say today's kids are more promiscuous and bold than my generation was. The worst part to me is that this is with these two children forever now. Thanks to that wonderful internet.
Yes...and the kids do not realize that it is there forever...that is the sad part of it all. |

I tell Chan this all the time---whatever you put on that phone is out there forever for everyone to see. He's VERY political and a proud Southern young man, so my momma and I try to get him to temper his posts. Not sure we always succeed. . . .
I was told by a client that some employers will not even take applications unless they have access to your FB and/or SC accounts to see your posts. Don't know how true that is. |

But don't underestimate the power of the trashy movies and television shows youngsters are watching some of which are downright shocking (Fifty Shades of Gray). Not to sound too cheesy but I think all of this takes away from the things we thought were forbidden and naughty when we were kids.  |

I totally agree. I remember the first "date" I went on--my parents took us to a movie. Not too far into the show, it got a little, and I mean LITTLE sexual (by today's standards MIGHT be a PG-13). . . My parents marched us right out of the theatre---today kids go to those kind alone, unsupervised, and frequently. |

Our HS football coach did not allow us to date when I was in HS.
True story. He was dead serious.....so some of us had to sneak around a little like little tomcats.
Seriously, though, this is a sad, depressing subject.

Our HS football coach did not allow us to date when I was in HS.
True story. He was dead serious.....so some of us had to sneak around a little like little tomcats.
Seriously, though, this is a sad, depressing subject.
My HS boyfriend's coach wouldn't let the guys see their girlfriends on game day (before the games). Said they might be tempted to do things that would drain their energy 
It is a very sad situation indeed. I saw a picture of one of the girls, so pretty and so much ahead of her that this may jeopardize.

I just couldn't even take it in at first. I'm not sure at 14 I knew what "sexual acts" were. What is wrong with our world???? Things seem to be progressing faster and faster with each successive generation as to what is acceptable. Or at least tolerated. Where will we be in 30 years?
Parents don't parent anymore, and this is a direct result of that. I see it nearly every single day. The parents choose to pacify their children because the parent would much rather pay attention to their cell phone or computer than pay attention to the needs of their child or what's going on in their child's life. The kid has no guidance and is not taught right from wrong. There are no consequences placed on their actions so they do what they want, when they want. |

Oh no, I’m rid of all my toxic masculinity, ever since I started shaving with Gillette razors. Not only that, but now that it is fashionable for women to let their armpit and leg hair grow wild, I’m less apt to objectify women. That probably explains my newfound interest in sheep ranching. |

Here’s another observation....we like watching some TV cop shows like “Bluebloods” or “Chicago PD” and increasingly they feature these women who are just as$ beaters who routinely beat the hell out of these big muscular evil perps. I mean one-on-one and they beat them and cuff them like Raggedy Ann dolls. To some it might seem like a subtle trend, but it’s obvious to me what’s going on.
I’m not saying there aren’t some badass women out there, but every woman cop on those shows is like Chuck Norris. |

I was just thinking this the other day when watching an Avengers movie and the Black Widow is beating a group of men to a pulp. Like, 3 of them maybe? I was like dang....good thing this is a superhero movie otherwise I ain't buying it. |

In the old days there was a stigma attached to underage, unmarried pregnancies. Now it's just another day in the neighborhood. It's acceptable almost.
From the outside looking in, these 2 girls would appear to have it all--private school, cute as can be, families with nice incomes, friends. . . . So I'm like you, I wonder what home life is really like. I hope they've learned a hard, valuable lesson. |
