Location: Illinois | I have a bachelors in accounting and don't use it. I was immediately offered a job where my dad works, they needed another administrative assitant and when the office manager retires I get that job. We build all the tanks, dryers, pressure vessels, etc for grain alcohol processing. So for the ADMs and such type places. I'm in charge of payroll and accounts payable, and then do the cash receipts sometimes. I get to wear a tshirt/hoodie, jeans, sneakers, mocs, boots, whatever and I can take off whenever I want for horse stuff. In the last 2 months I've taken off at least a few hours of a day at least a dozen times, no one cares. Its the perfect job & pays enough for me to board 3 horses and have a house on just 1 income. I started out kind of at the bottom, but have gained quickly. April will be my 5th year here and I will then have 3 weeks of paid vacation and I can't tell you how excited I am for that lol |

Location: SW Missouri | Massage therapist for 20 years now and still love it! I’ve worked Mon Tues Thurs for many years now. That schedule allowed me to haul a lot. I also sell Norwex, originally for the discount but now to also enjoy extra money that’s easy on my hands and wrists |

 Living within my means

Location: Randolph, Utah | I am an accounting clerk, I don't get paid great, but I also have no schooling. I've been at my job 6.5 years, I get 4 weeks vacation and a week of sick time. My boss is very flexible and I can usually take off when I need, but I am tied down the first week of every month and have to be here. I'd love to find a second part time job, something work from home would be great but I haven't been able to find anything. I'm not wanting MLM I'd like a data entry job or something I could do from home. I do have a small herd of cows, which is what mostly pays for my horses, but they don't make me rich by any means. Nursing school is hard, but if that's what you want to do it will pay off in the end. |

Location: Texas | I'm a police officer. I work four 10 hour shifts a week, so having three days off is really nice. However, I work Friday-Monday so finding barrel races during the week is pretty tough. I absolutely love my career though and wouldn't trade it for the world. |

| I work in food manufacturing. Odds are you eat our products at least weekly if not more, lol. I'm in the order processing aspect of it. I have no schooling and it's good money. Reasonably flexible schedule and I enjoy the industry. |

| I'm assuming you enjoy horses and animals in general. Ever thought about a Vet Tech. I was an Equine Vet Tech for a short time and absolutely loved it. I had no schooling in that area the vet trained me the way she wanted. She always said horse experience isn't something I can teach you either have it or you don't. |

I'm a brand inspector. Lots of fun, absolutely love my job. October and November are the busiest times due to selling calves etc and being in WY it can be a bit cold though.
What exactly does a brand inspector do? I’m intrigued now :)
WY is a brand state. So unlike some states where you can create a crazy brand, ours have to be approved and registered with the state. All cattle, horses, sheep have to be inspected regardless if they are branded or not, when moving from one county to another or out of state. Change of ownership or just movement. Sometimes it's just a horse or 1 steer destined for beef and sometimes 16 truckloads. Some have so many brands they look like a billboard lol. But I have to determine ownership before they can be transported. It's a good job. Most of the ranchers are wonderful to work with. |

| I am in nursing school. Finishing 2nd semester. Its 4 semesters total. Not super expensive at the school in going to, and I work 24h/week at night. Its not easy. The workload is stupid but pay vs. school cost is worth it. |

Location: SW New Mexico | After 34 years of being in food service and training barrel horses, I am now a caretaker for my older developmentally disabled sister and mother to a autistic son. I am also a service coordinator for the developmentally disabled..I serve 10 families, and 2 respites, and one customized in home service. It's rewarding and better pay, and easier on my body than 8 hours on my feet earning $2.50 hourly plus tips.. I'm still training barrel horses!

| I taught school for 43 years. Would not recommend that to anyone. This past year I have had threats to shoot my house up, shoot my horses, and "take care" of me after school. Admin didn't seem to think that was a problem. I was told the F bomb everyday and reported that once. Nothing was done quit reporting that. Our fantastic superintendent decided to cut all retired teachers salaries $10,000 so all of the teachers who were teaching because we lived the kids jumped ship. Let's just say that teaching changed somewhat in those 43 years. Don't be a teacher! |

Location: Kansas | I'm way past retirement age but cannot do boredom, so I continue to work. 33 years in Accounts Payable for my brother's aircraft distribution company which went from a garage at their farm to a big beautiful building in an industrial park. Before that I worked from everything to a soda fountain to a couple of jobs with the county and several years proofreading with an oil industry magazine. I really don't know what a vacation is. I like to work. |

I meet with an advisor in a week to see if nursing school would be right for me. :) |

| I work in a mixed practice vet clinic. Reception. It's very busy and I learn something new every single day. I love the chaos actually and the days usually fly by. I do have a bachelors in animal science and grew up with a farm/ranch background which helps me with large animal clients, but it's mostly a job that you learn as you go. Lots of human interaction and sometimes people can really be rude, but 99% of the time everyone is great. Oh, and multi-tasking is a must in this career! |

| I'm a loan officer at a credit union. Not the most glamorous job but its a salary position with no OT and no weekends. I didn't know what I wanted to do so I got a bachelor's in business admin (something super generic) so I had choices once I got out. I've always been good with finances and numbers and enjoy helping other people, so its not too bad. If I ever have a change of heart I have a lot of different choices. |
