Balancing freedom and security is pretty difficult though. I'm glad it's not me having to make the decisions.
It's not hard at all.
Freedom trumps everything. Including security

So we were given the green light last month to play baseball again... we got a few games in here and there now they are shutting down again. We were scheduled to play this weekend at a pretty big venue ... the organization sent out an email saying due to the negative media, the city has shut down the ballpark until further notice. Our guys tried to get us in in another city... it was a go, then the same thing, the media got it shut down.... so now we are in our home turf fields, a smaller ball park but this city is completely separate from the bigger cities and is going forward with a tournament... they cut it down so they stay low capacity, masks are required and theyll be handing them out at the gates.. social distancing is required... I just received an email warning from the producers of this tournament saying they are aware the media will be at this tournament tomorrow to try to get us shut down ... we were told to ignore and just get inside the park... they will not be allowed inside.... geeez... I'm really starting to rethink us even going.... this will most likely be the last tournament of this season now with another shut down. But it's almost not even worth the hassle at this point. All I can say is, if anyone shoves a camera anywhere near my kids faces, I will come unglued. I'm honestly concerned that problems will arise. We've been doing just fine... playing in tourneys and some league tourneys ... it's been great ... lots of hand washing and obviously no sharing of water coolers or equipment... its be fine! I know these people that want the whole enchilada shut down will probably stop at nothing to get their way. This is a 8u, 10 -11u and 12 and 13u tournament happening tomorrow... kids ... folks had best behave..... my boys are pumped to play tomorrow... I hope I dont have to tell them they can't
Hope that the boys are out playing ball today without any problems with the trouble making media. We just need to get back to normal as best as possible without trouble being stired up from the negative people out there. |

I watched my nephew play a tournament on the 4th and while the moms were talking about a petition being signed to shut them down, again, thinking this was possibly their last weekend to play, again, I was looking around at these boys just wanting to play ball. They aren't aware of the politics or what the numbers mean (or don't mean) that are posted every...single....day......... with doom and gloom headlines. They are out in the 95+ plus degree weather playing their hearts out ---- not sitting at home playing fortnite all day and night like a lot of kids I know. God bless them and keep them and Lord, I know you always do, but I pray that you will turn this all into something GOOD. Amen. |

Location: Fort Worth / Springtown | I was tryign to quote turnburnsis -------- but I can't figure out how to fix it. I hear you! All of it. And towards the end you mentioned hard of hearing......my husband I were talking about that - the poor people that have a hard time hearing and need to read lips, also! I get frustrated by the people checking me out or serving me food and I can't understand them/hear them - what, what, can you say that again? We went to restaurant on Sat and they made you wear mask inside and took your temp. Then you could take your mask off -- what difference did that make on anything? I won't be going back until the mandate is lifted. They don't make 10 and under in Tx wear a mask....I guess they can't pass it on to anyone. (isn't that what they are now claiming - masks protect you from passing it on to others?) I know someone who works at a large place who tested everyone - she came back positive. She has NO symptoms. Had to stay in quarantine and when returning to work has to wear a special mask! What the heck?! I know a doctor that got it - and got over it. He said masks don't.........I'm just going to stop here.

Chuck E Cheese filed bankruptcy. . .
That's about the only good news I've heard all day. Chuck-E-Cheeze is an instrument of Satan. I'm convinced it is a snapshot of life in hell. Rotten pizza and hot dogs. Those horrible singing puppets. The pens full of hundreds of plastic balls coated in snot, vomit, and poop from leaking Huggies. Screaming and yelling spoiled brats with handfuls of those tickets lining up to get their trinkets from China. I do hope they close and re-open in CHOP....exclusively.
Everytime I walked in a Chuck e cheese I wanted to puke, the smell always got to me as in what Bear just discribed..
By the grace of God, I have never set food in Chuck E Cheese. |

If I was a Govenor of a state. I would open it up and say that I am not going to destroy my states economy. If you are afraid. You need to defend yourself. Corperate America loves these shutdowns. It is killing their compitition of the small busineses. Notice that they don't have to shut down. Their sales are up 40% and they also got the PPP money on top of it.
What is the sense of living in our basements if there is no economy when we finally crawl out from under our rocks.
Mother Nature designs everthing to servive. We as a human race will servive this.
We need to tell the politions who want their 15 minutes of fame to just get the h*ll out of the way and shut up.
I TOTALLY AGREE open it if your scared stay home no more unemployment checks go to work wear a mask if you want . but this is retarded in my eyes. most people that die have underling issuess cars kill we still driver open up |

We had zero issues at our last tournament... in fact majority of the people werent wearing masks once inside the park... its 100 degrees out. I am no pro mask, I do not need to try to be convinced that they work, I will not wear one unless I'm absolutely forced to. Like today, I have a hair appointment and they are requiring masks, gloves and they wipe down your phone when you walk in lol! Fine with me, it probably needs it anyway. I think its absolutely ridiculous but I need my hair done and i want to help support my stylist, I know shes taken a hit financially due to all this, so I'll suck it up for an hour. I only know of 1 entire baseball organization that pulled their entire team... softball and all ages of baseball from competing in the last of the summer tournaments. They had a player test positive so they pulled the whole schmoe.. lots of parents were not very happy with that. But I can understand their reasoning behind that decision. Baseball will be there after all this. Our organization is pushing on... getting us to as many tournaments as we can.... with full disclosure of the "risks" its completely up to us parents if we play or not, with no repercussions if you decide not to go into a certain tournament or area because of concerns. I appreciate that from our ball club. With Jacob being a higher risk individual, we went back n forth several times but decided to go on. The kid lives to play ball and had already missed a year due to cancer. Our coaches know to take extra precautions, they wipe down the dug outs before our boys enter and we keep a big bottle of hand sanitizer for the boys to use throughout the game. Is that 100% foolproof?? Nope , but it's better than nothing and I'm comfortable with both my boys playing. So to me, its baseball life as usual at most tournaments, I see very few masks being worn and not very much social distancing... after games the kids do not go and give high fives to the other team, they just stand at their dugouts and wave their hats and yell good game lol! |

Location: Kansas | My nephew in Texas FB'd me a video of foreign workers making masks. They were in a dirty basement-type room at sewing machines which as they processed out the masks they fell in piles on the floor where what looked like early teen boys were sitting on the floor stacking them and sometimes smoothing them out with their bare hands. These were absolutely the same disposable masks we see everywhere and this was disturbing. I then googled to see what I could find and saw a Chinese person sitting at a chair with a stack of disposable masks rubbing them on the bottom of his shoes. I decided to buy only washable masks. None of these people, by the way, were actually wearing masks themselves. |

For the most part I'm not seeing anything special at the races I've been to. Some weeknight races are only allowing the next 14 in the warm up pen at a time, and they ask that as soon as you run you exit so the next person can go in. We can have spectators now. They've had to cancel a few races in Salt Lake at the Utah Fair Park. A couple because of corona, one because of the riots, one because of rain, and one last week. Salt Lake is under a mandatory mask order, how do you expect the producer to police that and put on a race. I personally wasn't going because of the mask order. 95 + degrees and a mask, no thank you. I avoid anywhere I'm required to wear one. |

I always wonder how many people that were wearing masks still did came down with the Coronvirus. A youngman that my husband knows, well his furture father in law pasted away last week from the coronvirus, he wore a mask everywhere he went because he did have underlying issues so wore his mask for percautions, he was doing great and helping getting really for the wedding thats going to take place in a month or so, some of the family members thats working on the wedding did come down with the virus, but since the furture Father in law did have issues it got him. But they were wearing masks but somewhere along the way someone in his family must have passed it to the dad. So sad, he was so perky and happy helping out with this wedding for his little girl. |

It's so sad when someone taking every precaution to preserve his life doesn't make it through this pandemic and yet young people disregard these precautions. They don't know what they're messing with or don't care. My niece who lives in Phoenix is 30 and has been sick for the past week or so. She didn't know what she had until tested positive for Covid and is through the worst of it but any age can get it. She's very pretty and somehow I can't see her wearing a mask in her everyday life but it may not have made a difference anyway. I hate wearing a mask. They're hard to breathe through but sometimes you have no choice. |

There's one facility by me that is requiring you to sign a waiver that states you haven't been around anyone with any communicable disease in 30 days. I'm a nurse on a covid floor. I'm around communicable diseases every day covid or not lol. I asked if I was even allowed to enter and they said as long as I don't test positive. They're not testing us. They then said I could but I couldn't be near anyone....They're also charging a covid fee of 2.50 in addition to the $5 office fee per person. To say the least I'm a little ticked and that facility will not be getting any of my money. I'm probably safer to be around than anybody at a grocery store...I'll just drive farther to Nbha where there aren't any special things except putting all your fees in an envelope and in a bucket at the announcer stand so Niobe congregates... |

I've heard of that from some places. I know that's not happening at my facility. All of ours that come back positive are symptomatic and sick sick sick. We are getting ones that nursing homes just drop off and won't take back even when they're not shedding the virus because they're still testing positive. |

Lula Bell is an ICU nurse but was moved to the Covid floor when their cases picked up. Then she went back to "normal" duty when cases fell. She told me this past weekend that she's back on the Covid floor. . . And she said the same thing, that their cases are sick and presenting with obvious symptoms. Stay safe and thank you for all you do. |

Thank you! I work on a step down icu that is the designated covid floor. It's been like riding a wave. Last shift I work we went to having none to getting 5 in 7 hours. And I admitted 3 of them in 3 hours by myself before they called another nurse in. I'm over it. |

Really unless you have locked yourself in the house since February you've probably come in contact with the virus. . So I'm not sure how they expect people to know if they have or haven't been around anyone with a disease. |
