Location: Bastrop, Texas | Why is this movement for widespread mail-in voting an issue, after 231 years? Covid19? Is that what they were saying? Really? How do you all get groceries? How do you get gas? Do you go out for dinner? Takeout? If you need something from the hardware store, how do you get it? We were told we can do these things if we practice social distancing, wash our hands, use sanitizer, keep our fingers away from our faces, and wear masks. Isn't that correct? We all need to go out for a variety of things, and even if we are afraid of Covid19 we do it, almost without fail. Proponents of widespread main-in voting claim there's no evidence this could lead to voter fraud. I beg to differ. I don't often post links, but I will here. Here are some links. You decide. My opinion....wear a mask and vote....safely. In my opinion, we should also have a universal voter ID law. Almost every country in the civilized world has voter ID. Don't buy the bullish!t that voter ID is racist. https://www.dailysignal.com/2020/05/09/database-swells-to-1285-proven-cases-of-voter-fraud-in-america/ |

Location: Kansas | Saw a meme yesterday with a sign that simply read "If masks work, why can't everyone vote in person?" Remember it's the Biden camp that's gone lunatic about wearing masks. |

| Trump voted by mail and bashes mail-in voting. I don't get they hypocrisy. FL absentee and mail-in voting are exactly the same processes. |

| Just other food for thought: Mail-in voting isn't just about the voter not getting covid. It's about greatly reduced polling locations and lack of poll workers (who are typically elderly and high-risk). It's about voter suppression. Lack of polling locations means less people able to vote. If you really want to impact change instead of sit back and complain, sign up to be a poll worker. |

No, they are not the exact same processes. Quite different. Look it up. |

| Voting Democrat is like marrying into the wrong family. In addition to the adorable grandmother, you also get the pediphile uncle, the heroin-addicted sister and the adulterous father who was recently paroled. |

Then I have to hear which of my children hasn't shown up to vote. They tell on my husband every time cause I always vote at lunch time and he comes in after work. "Oh, I see Brion hasn't been in yet. When is he coming to see us? He's going to vote right??" Those ladies are exactly why I might vote by mail or drop box this year. It sucks cause I love the ritual of voting day. But I simply could not live with myself if, by some terrible asymptomatic chance, I passed COVID on to the cutest little old lady who is volunteering her time to work the polls. I talked with our supervisor of elections and he is confident in his office's ability to process timely if every single voter in the county chose to vote by mail or dropped off their ballot. A friend of mine has voted absentee in just about every election in the last 15 years and has never had her ballot canceled or returned. Oh, and in Florida, absentee and "vote by mail" are exactly the same process, according to the Division of Elections.

| So someone tell me the difference between absentee and mail-in? Is it just that absentee is for someone who can't be there and mail-in is for anyone? Because that's the only difference I'm seeing. Trump even told FL to vote by mail so I just dont get the argument: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-encourages-florida-vote-by-mail https://www.statesman.com/news/20200803/fact-check-is-there-difference-between-absentee-mail-in-voting https://www.dictionary.com/e/absentee-ballot-vs-mail-in-ballot/ |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | The voter has to apply for an absentee ballot and if their application is approved they receive a ballot. In what is known as 'Universal Mail-in Ballot states' all registered voters receive a ballot automatically. The problem is that many registered voters are either dead or no longer living in the district. Absentee ballots are a specific request by a voter whose eligibility is verified before a ballot is mailed out to them. If you just mass mail a ballot out to everyone on the voter rolls, you will be mailing out, in effect, "blank checks" for voting to voters who don't exist. I don't know how everyone else feels, but this is an invitation for voting fraud. In some states, even a small difference of a few hundred votes could make the difference between a candidate winning or losing a state. The experience in Florida in 2000 taught us this. The fact that "dead voters" voting has become something of a standing joke for decades is evidence that this is a real potential problem. If someone is afraid to go to the polls because of Covid19 I don't see a problem with them requesting an absentee ballot. That's how I see this.
