@ Mecon: Dimwits like you are prey for the ever-unscrupulous Dems. Soon you will be living in a stolen WalMart shopping cart.

Do you have anything to offer other than personal attacks?

That's all you trumpers do is attack the messenger.

Who are these "unscrupulous Dems"? And what kind of prey do they look for? Do they have meeting and stuff and decide on unscrupoulous doings?  And if so, they are unamimous in carrying out these dastardly deeds? Or is it just the deep state bogeyman at work again?

The same unscrupulous Dems that brougt us the 40 hour wook week, SS, Medicare?  Or a terrible Dem like Clinton that balanced the budget and left W with a surplus? Or terrible Dems like Obama that brought us out of the W recession, {depression}, and put us on the track to recovery that Trump ran on?

If so, give me more of that.  Trump lost this race because of Trump. No other reason. The real GOP ideals were not rejected as evidenced by the down ticket successes. Biden didn't have coattails because Biden didn't win. Trump lost. Now trump will spend the rest of his time pardoning all the crooks of his administration.

In the meantime you can just carry on personal attacks on those you disagree with and make yourself feel superior.  That is the trump way afterall. See where it got him?

Is Mecon your wife?  You both sound the same.

No they both insane!

I'll skip any "personal attacks" and just zero in on your premises.  That works much better than accusing you of writing before turning on the switch to your brain:

1.) Bill Clinton did not "balance the budget".  Congress submits the budget.  For the last 6 years of Clinton's administration, congress was was a Republican majority.  To his credit, however, Clinton tacked to the center and had the wisdom to recognize the Republican led majority had it right.  He signed their budget, and so people like you can give him credit.  That is a falsehood.  Also, much of that budget was due to the dotcom boom, which we all remember well.  That boom led to increased tax revenues to the fed.  My point is, be honest. Also, just to show my objectivity, the notion of Republicans being "fiscal conservatives" has since changed.  That term is an anachronism.  There is no such thing as fiscal conservatism in today's Washington DC, for all intents and purposes.  Spending is a powerful tool to maintain power.  Both parties suffer from this affliction.

2.) Obama came into office at the height of the recession.  There was only one direction to go.....that was UP.  We have never failed to recover from a recession/depression. Accordingly, we experienced a very slow, gradual recovery under Obama's administration.  Again, for 6 of Obama's years, Congress was a Republican majority.

3.) So you think SS was a sweet deal?  Maybe in 1935, but not anymore. Practically nobody can even come close to living on a paltry $1400-2500 a month.  The rate of return is abysmal.  If a person earns an average income for 45 years and invests 12.4% of that in the S&P 500 over those 45 years, they will easily be worth $1.5 million, at age 65.  They would OWN that nest egg.  When they die, what's left goes wherever they want.

3.) Same thing for Medicare.  It's not a good deal.  People set aside 2.9% of what they earn throughout their lives.  An alternative, privately owned fund would easily provide them with $400,000 by the time they retire for healthcare. You can buy **** good healthcare for that kind of money.  As it is, today's retirees typically wind up having to purchase various degrees of "supplemental" coverage for several hundred a month.

Your turn....

What I can guarantee Democrats out there is:  Be careful what you wish for.  This morning Joe Biden used the word "mandate" reflecting on none other than systemic racism and climate change.  THAT'S his priority?  The squad is hollering to defund the military by 10%.  Ilhan Omar the Muslim is ecstatic that Democrats can now push their progressive agenda, meaning socialism.  Do you really want to share your paycheck with her relatives from Somalia.  I don't.

Big Tech.....Candace Owens posted on Twitter assurance from a doctor that Covid-19 numbers were being miscalculated.  Her message was deleted by the Twitter Gods.  As soon as I can figure out how to do it, my Facebook account will be history.  You all should do the same.

Just curious, but Why do you think those are programs worth emphasizing? Social security robs an American citizen of over 200,000.00 of investment money and more than that when inflation is figured.  citizens are robbed of that money and now our wonderful politicians have robbed the pool so younger people who have paid in won't even see any return or very little.

the dot.com boom allowed anybody to have a surplus. The .com bust, then another bipartisan decision to invade another government led to deficit.

The 2008 recession was due to our highly intelligent political leaders that thought anyone with a pulse should own a home. It was bipartisan follies also. We can't tell a constituent no, because we won't get re-elected and lose our insider trading benefits.

We didn't get the best bang for our buck with Obama's tripling of the national debt because  it was a very low roi  for that kind of money with 8 years of investment time.

We all benefit from a split government, because that is when the markets do the best.

We hardly send our brightest people to DC (Democrat or republican). We send the most charismatic.

It's my concern that it isn't democrat vs republican, but rural vs city.

I think you are on to something with the Rural vs City statement.  The rural people live one kind of life while the city is living a completely different life.  They think that the grocery store produces the milk and meat. LOL

Excellent points.  I missed this, but we made similar comments.
The reason why our national debt is skyrocketing is because career politicians can only survive by pandering to various groups at taxpayer's expense. Republicans and Democrats are indistinguishable in that respect. In fact, for similar reasons, namely career viability, we can't solve healthcare issues, and come up with improvements to Medicare and social security.  The mere mention of reforms in either of these areas is political suicide.  That's why I don't belong to a political party.   Every two years I'm stuck with the least ugly option for my prom date....but they are both ugly.  At least with the Republican date, I can manage a kiss on the cheek.  I'd only go with the Democrat date if I can pull her in my horse trailer and don't have to hold her hand.  So far, most "Social Security reforms" have consisted on reducing the benefit, excluding people, raising the taxable ceiling, and raising the retirement age.  The majority of millennials are resigned to social security either paying out an increasingly meaningless stipend, or not even existing by the time they retire.

That's a sh!tty reward for allowing the government to confiscate 12.4% of everything you earn, up to about $130K or whatever it is these days. Add another 3% to that if you include Medicare.  People have been programmed to think these are sweet deals, and they aren't.  It would take a couple decades to transition over to a privatized system, but the mere mention of "privatization" to a Democrat is like sunrise to a vampire.  With Social Security, you can wind up putting aside $200-300K over your lifetime.  You can fully retire with "full benefits" at 66.5.  If you die at 70, with no dependents, the government is off the hook, and your estate get's jack.  If you own your own retirement nest egg, you can actually live at least as well as you did when you were working....and designate what's left when you die wherever you want.  One basic fundamental people are taught is to invest wisely where your money actually works for you.  Your money does very little, if anything in SS.
Now I'm not saying the basic rules regarding access to those funds should be different than with SS.  It can still be required....so taxpayers don't have to provide for you.  It should only be accessible if you retire, become disabled, or to your estate if you die before retirement age. Nobody talks about other benefits of a privatized retirement plan.  For example, all that money invested in a wide variety of select funds or options amounts to an infusion of real capital (Over $ 1 trillion a year, most likely) into the private sector, utilities, or bonds.  That means growth and jobs, which translates into tax revenues....which can be used to provide for the indigent.
You'd be surprised to see how something like this incentivizes actual work and productive employment.  A lot of uneducated dullards get awfully smart when you start talking dollars.  There are solutions..,,I'm not even scratching the surface.  My point is that we should not accept the status quo when it comes to SS and Medicare.

Before any of these real changes can be made, there needs to be one huge change that offers any realistic chance for sensible solutions:

Term Limits

Wanna know what else is fun about Social Security.  Here in Kansas, we have to pay taxes on our Social Security. It was one of those laws that Joe Biden gleefully voted YEA on.  Also, I'm past retirement age and still working so even though I'm on Social Security I'm still paying into it every month.  So between the taxes and paying back into it, it isn't worth spit.  Soon, when Biden approves every illegal in the world for U.S. citizenship, how many do you think will be headed for the Social Security office.  How many hiding in the dark are 62-65 or have a disability the U.S. taxpayer needs to compensate for.  Young folks out there, don't count SS into your retirement plan just yet.  I doubt mine will last until I kick the bucket.

Here is an article about the myth of Clinton's surplus.  It provides data than you can verify yourself and explains how Clinton borrowed money especially from SS to pay down the debt.

I have always supported the privitization of SS and you can clearly see why the left do not with this article.

cold hard fact is this( This is not meant as a slight to anyone, especially you)

But health care is not a right.

Get the Government out of it, enact some tort reform and let the free market take care of the rest.

In short order things would normalize.

So Mecon, do you beleive he's won because the media tells you so?

What will you do in December when the outcome is possibly different?   Will you pout, throw things, move? If it's the same, Will you gloat even harder that your gas prices will be $5 plus? Will you gloat when your power goes out or your heating bill is astronomical?  Will you gloat when your paycheck goes byebye and not to pay YOUR bills, but to pay the freeloaders who float in?  Will you gloat when you have to stay home and wear a mask in your own home?  Will you go poop in the street?

Your behavior is such that you won't be happy no matter what happens.  I'm surprised you own a horse, because usually horses make us happy.  Unless of course they're in the fence or colicking....      Bitter doesn't appeal to anyone, you should try to move off of it.
