Location: 31 lengths farms | Went home last Friday to load up and head to a race, she had a scrape on her back right leg, look around to see where she might have done it at and see a panel down on the end of the pasture that seperates her and the gelding all mashed up. Looks like she kicked and got over the top of it, mashed it down a good bit, how she didnt' get a leg completely stuck thru it and break the darn thing I do not know but she was pretty sore. Since Bute and Previcoxx arent' really on her list of items she can have I poulticed her with an Arnica clay and gave her some Banamine. Talked to my Herb rep and got a product called Neoprofin which is an enzyme as I understand it that doesn't inhibit the production of Coxx in their gut and is safe for the kidney's. She was slightly swollen in the hock and fetlock on Saturday morning but moving well. Swelling has been gone since Sunday, but giving her the week off and doing some BioScan also. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Thank you...she is trotting sound in a straight line and I trotted her on the end of the lead in circles last night but she tends to want to trot them on top of you so it was hard to see but she looked good. I'm not sure this mares nerve ending go all the way to her brain at times. Swelling is gone and she ran around like a fool while I rode the other two on Monday night not to happy about her banishment. I think I need a scope for ulcers. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | YOU are absolutely right Chandler's Mom...she feels the need to do something big every 6 months whether I'm on the program or not. Last year she only pulled the kidney/bladder stones so she felt like she was behind schedule. In the meantime I am going to start myself on a round of UlcerGuard. |

Previcox, Bute, Banamine, and Equiprofen are all NSAIDS and all can be toxic to your horse's kidneys. I don't know why you were told Equiprofen is an enzyme. Previcox seems to have fewer GI side effects, but given your horse's history, I would be careful about giving any NSAIDS. Maybe cold water hosing is better. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Neoprofin not Equiprofin. Neoprofin APF or something like that. Let me find a link... |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Oh OK. Neoprofen is an NSAID, but this product is spelled neoprofin. How is this product supposed to help? |

How does Neprofin work?
A special blend of fungal protease, bromelain and papain are combined with serrapeptase, a powerful proteolytic (protein digesting) enzyme, to digest excessive blood proteins and free radicals. Serrapeptase is used worldwide for its ability to reduce swelling and increase the speed of recovery. The formula also contains doses of amylase and lipase, as well as a natural gooseberry extract known as Amla which provides synergistic support to the enzyme blend. Neprofin also contains rutin, an important bioflavonoid that may help to repair damaged tissue. Neprofin AVF is an excellent choice for injuries and is ideal for decreasing recovery times. It is also effective for active, athletic animals to ensure a prompt recovery from soreness and swelling due to over-activity.
Neprofin AVF enzymes aid to assimilate food into nutrients and discard the waste. It works continuously with the pH variation of the digestive tract to increase digestion and absorption, which also intensifies absorption of released amino acids. Neprofin aims to improving circulation, speeding tissue repair, alleviating joint discomfort, supporting cardiovascular health, and relieving respiratory complaints

Location: 31 lengths farms | Rode her for about 15 minutes on Friday night to get a feel on her since she looked good on the lead in the straightaway and okay from what I could see with her trotting on top of me in circles, LOL!!! She is the worst failure at "lunging" EVER!!!! She treats me like I'm the barrel...or how I wish she would turn a barrel anyway....
Anyway, she felt good, no issues at any gait, collected or extended though I did not extend the lope, we kept it fairly under control and seems like she once again got thru this scrape with danger, I'm running out of lives for myself however. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | And we go in sometime next week for her 6 month ultrasound. She seems to be doing fine, eating, drinking, and doing great in general. This is a routine visit we will be making hopefully every 6 months for years to come to have her bladder ultrasounded to check on any new formations of stones in it and get them plucked out before it might get to large to pass, as well as checking the kidneys.
The gelding will be going at the same time to have x-rays and a lameness exam as he came up sore on his right front in turns and going down declines a week ago. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Please send up some prayers for us, she goes in next Friday for a rescope and ultrasound to look for any new stones forming and take a look a the health of the kidneys. I'd love to see no sediment or any actual stones in the bladder and at the very least the kidneys t have held their health from last November and if it werent' too much to ask for another Miracle for her...No Stones, LOL!!!
The gelding will be accompanying us also for a lameness exam and probably some x-rays and or ultrasounds. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Lol, I need to for sure. Gelding after being blocked in rt front showed some slight ouch I left front also. Digitalis showed very mild "navicular changes" which really the vet said maybe unique to him as both navicular bones were the same as each other but just different shaped than the "norm". The bone itself is clean. Some osteo changes in the tips of his coffin but very very slight. Doesn't feel wedges would benefit him at ALL, wants us to go to softer type more giving pads for a few cycles as when they did the lameness exam Tucker was only very slightly off in the tight circles n hard ground, at first they didn't even think he was off until they saw the difference in his stride after they blocked him. |
