Location: 31 lengths farms | It has been a tough year at times but last November when her ultrasounds came back with good enough news that Dr. Katzman was willing to do the surgery I felt like I could never get better news. That was until yesterday when the scope showed what it did, healthy beautiful bladder and kidneys producing urine. I told Doc is kiss him if I could get back there, I was busy whispering prayers in CC's ears at the moment, lol!!! Afterwards as we were waiting for Tucker's blocks to take effect and saw other horses get good and bad news here and there, I thought back to a year ago and CC's original diagnosis and being told there was nothing they could do that made sense for us. Not sure how of all the places in Davis we ended up at being in front of a church but I thank God for that message He allowed me to hear that day " quit crying, go get your horse and go get better answers"... That day saved me just as much as it saved CC. All I could think of was how many owners left yesterday with bad news and how lucky I was that I was able to hear God speak to me that day. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Wanted to try to share the pictures of the Headstall I had made for her. I saw one on Rockstar Custom Leather that I liked and tweaked it a bit, wanted something to represent what a Warrior this little mare is... This is what Kayla came up with and she added "She's A Warrior" on the throatlatch as a surprise. Amazing!!!

Location: Arkansas | I agree with Jake-----you are The Best horse momma! Not sure how many you have but CC and Tucker (I believe?) hit the jackpot when they got you. God speaks to us, we just have to be listening. And you have good ears!! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Thank you ChandlersMom, but I definitely feel like I'm the lucky one. Tucker is just the coolest horse ever, mark a 72 in the cutting pen, hits the lower D 's in big pens if I ride correctly , my. 85 year old dad can gather cows on him and my non horsey fiancΓ© can trail ride on him, he just makes everything easy and no big deal. CC has been a challenge but I learned from her to really watch and listen to a horse. I've had to change my approach on a lot of things for her but I think it made me a better horseman by far than I would have been without her. She makes me smile every day. The heart and will that horse has makes it easy to try really hard for her . |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Not much to update which can be a good thing, LOL!!! Won't be headed to races for awhile unfortunately as our truck got sideswiped last week and bent the tie rods, jacked up the entire front end so it is in the shop and wont get it back for at least 2.5 weeks and have nothing else to haul with :-( Have been riding a bit down the creek, last week it was 114 a few days so didn't ride as I don't like to stress her too much.
Had a few people inquire on some of the things I have done for her. one thing I learned was with the ACV you can take the regular ACV and pour unfiltered ACV with the mothers in it and it will grow its own mothers basically doubling your batch. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | July has been an unplanned "break" for the horses. And I'm thinking I'll just skip July all together next year. July 1st we got side swiped in the truck hauling a flat bed trailer, busted the tie rod and basically ruined the entire front axle, wheels, steering box etc. in the truck which we still have not gotten back from repair. And then my mom passed away July 29th. Mom had dementia though she was still funny as heck and knew family members, she had had a stroke 1 1/2 years ago and was in a memory care facility about 1/4 mile from my work so I would go have lunch with her everyday and take my dog Paisley with me, the folks at the facility loved having her come see them and mom ate her food better because she shared one spoonful with Paisley and one spoonful for herself. She had been in fairly good health, was having trouble with UTI's as she had a Foley Catheter and had had it for some years. When I got the call from the facility that mom was headed to the hospital I assumed it was a round of fluids, and antibiotics and we'd get kicked out of there and sent home. Quite the shock when the doctor informed me that mom's kidneys had failed and she was septic basically thru out her body. She literally went from giving me a bad time the day before over my ratty ponytail to body in shut down seemingly over night. She never had complained that she didn't feel good, not once but that was my mom. I didn't know till I was in my 20's that there was such a thing as a headache or an ear ache...my mom never complained EVER about not feeling well in my life. I never remember her going back to bed not feeling well as a kid, I remember getting up and mom being in the kitchen with an apron and get back home and when we went to bed at night she was in the kitchen with the apron on.
Anyway, she was released to hospice and we took her back to the facility where she had been living since the stroke. The caretakers there had become like family to us also and they took such amazing care of her that last week. Mom was unresponsive, had been since about 4 hours after they got her to the hospital but the caretakers treated her just like always, talked to her in their loving, joking voice as they changed her or changed her bedding and rotated her position in bed. Truly amazing humans. I stayed with momma at night so I could go to work during the day as like I said, she was a mere 1/4 mile from me and my sisters stayed with her during the day.
Thank goodness for these horses of mine this last few weeks, they gave me a reason to get up and keep going. I will miss my mom's voice yelling "Go Nan!!!" at the races but I hope that God will still let me hear it in my head. RIP Jerry L. Schumacher 12/04/29-07/29/15 and thank you God for loaning that woman to this family for all those years, Blessed beyond measure. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Finally got Dave to drag a trotting track around and thru the top section of our place, there are a lot of oak trees up there so its kind of a winding figure 8 of sorts. CC was a little on the muscle after our August break and she doesn't really like "new" things tossed at her as well as she has never really been much of a "trail horse". She prefers the sameness of arena's and circles, LOL!!! We managed to survive it anyway. She is looking good, keeping her weight consistent and being her usual feisty self. |

Thank you so so much! For the prayers but also for being there for me to talk to regarding all this. It really helped me get through this to have someone to talk to who knows exactly what I'm going through. Just like your CC, my little mare wanted to still be ridden which I we did lightly. She never fussed or refused. I had to find a way to give her a chance, this little mare means the world to me, and I refuse to give up on her! Waiting to hear back from my vet about scheduling the removal. I will try to remember to post here when I know the date! Thank you again!! <3 <3 |
