There ya go, 17.2 on a standard on Dash Ta Da Moon.  Maybe she's not the worlds greatest rider but the clock doesn't lie.  How many here have run a 17.2 on a standard WPRA pattern?

Booyah Darcy.

O Gee. She can sit in the back of a saddle and bounce around on a horse someone else trained with one hand on the reins and one of the horn the entire time. Boom.

Actually what made me the most angry about the show was an interview I heard Darcy give.

She for one talks about how great these strong, empowered, women who rodeo are, saying she wants the world to see that. Um, comments like "Rodeo is notorious for mattress hopping", "The best part of rodeo is the after party", and "Your just jealous *****es" doesn't make them look like strong empowered women.

BUT the WORST for me was when someone asked her "Are there young girls who come to the rodeos? Are you good role models for them?"

She had the nerve to say that she and the cast and the show was a good role model for kids......Oh except for the bikini part. Yeah none of the show is unless, sex, alcohol, and stabbing people in the back sets good examples now days.

VOMIT.

Why does she even need the reins at all anyway?  Very overrated.  I personally just use voice commands.......... Take x number of steps, merge to the right, turn at the barrel, turn, turn, turn, go straight ........ in my navigation GPS voice.

OMG!!!!  I bet I could tell Siri to instruct through the pattern and everything would be peachy!!!  Siri only gets mad when you ask if they are stupid.  Then it only says and I quote(because I have done it)...."now, now"  LOL!

That's a great idea!

And as for just sitting there, IIRC Dash Ta Da Moon was a scary mofo, I would probably not even put a leg over him.

While rewatching the second episode again today when it was on A&E, I saw that pretty much the entire thing is just for show. Darcy is making herself into a joke of sorts, and then of course the martyr more down the road I'm sure. All for the show.

You can see how terrible they all are as actors. Except maybe Anthony. He's pretty good. LOL. But the rest are terrible. And it's HILARIOUS. Barb is always trying hard not to crack up, even in the super "serious" apology scene. Sadie is a friggin trip & I love her. And I've done some risky stuff to make it to a show too, so I can relate to Marv being a "hot mess".

And I guess I would be out there competing on a one handed 1D/Rodeo horse if I had more money than God too. LOL. I just don't, so I have to learn to ride the hard & old fashioned way. And two handed.

And what on the show would lead you to believe anything different than that?  He hasn't hooked up with anyone, heck no one has.  Not even a kiss. There's been casual drinking but nothing more than a few friends having some cocktails, nothing that most of us don't do. I was expecting some hooking up or mattress hopping by now based on the previews, but we are already 1/3 of the way through this thing and noones even smooched yet.

Who the heck cares if Darcey " bought " her ride. There is no where in the rules that says you have to make your own horse. The timer sure doesn't care how you ride. We all put our boots on the same way. Normally one boot at a time on your foot. She just happens to be able to afford more than the average jane doe.
If I had the money, at this point in my life, heck ya, I would lay out the $$$ , buy a jam up horse, fine rig to haul down the road, and a big spread with stable boys.
But my lot in life is to struggle, work a 40 hour week, and make my own horse.

Because I didn't really disagree.

However I do disagree that buying a trained horse, riding one handed and running a 17.2 on a standard is a shameful thing. :)

That's why I have loved barrel racing for 50 years.  It's not a judged event.  You can ride any way you want to and the timer doesn't lie.

Well it didn't used to be a judged event before the the internet anyway, now it's judged by a giant jury of peers apparently.  :)

True. Nothing wrong with it. They make the trainers out there big money.

ACTUALLY. The show reminded me somewhat of a spoof. And in the barrel racing circles I thought it would be pretty comical. Unfortunately, it's on National television and they are claiming to be accurately representing the sport of barrel racing and rodeo.
