Bear {Scott} I have a honest question, I did ask but it didnt work out since I hate watching videos. My sons wife has Lupus and I really worry about this because she works at a clinic in San Marcos where she does drawing blood for the older folks, Brenda's Lupus really is being hard on her, so shes a high risk too and I saw a few posts on here that Coronavirus is not what causes a death, they are saying its the underlying issue that will be the cause of death not the coronavirus itself, does the Coronavirus attack the low immune systems of people that have underlying issues? Like when the person gets this virus and has Lupus can this virus cause the Lupus to go into high gear and cause her illness to get worst? I thought that I understood that the virus is what causes death, even if there is a underlying issue would the virus still be the cause of someone passing away if they get it?
And do you think the media is over reacting, I know some media I dont give a rats hinny about but the ones I do watch as in Fox I really pay attention to what they say, and when Gov. Greg Abbott comes on I really really listen to what he has to say. I really dont think hes over reacting, hes trying to get word out there for us and wants to protect us all by getting bars, restaurants, schools to close down. I just would like your take on all this. And I'm 62 so I'm taking this all very serious as most are on here, I know some think this is all blown out of proportion, but I think they should take this more serious.
At this point we have no choice but to assume this is a dangerous pandemic. The reason I say this is because this is a "novel" virus, meaning it is new, and, as such, we simply are in uncharted territory and we have no way of predicting an end point. In the end, it may turn out that we grossly overreacted, but we can't afford to minimize this pandemic. In the beginning, even many experts varied in their opinions, but over a few weeks time, the consensus was that our approach is the better part of valor. At the same time, political opportunists are not wasting time pointing fingers and looking for "experts" who will send the message of a doomsday scenario. Some attempt to continue to fan the flames of fear, doom, and gloom. If you watch the badgering of governors, members of the coronavirus response team, and the president, they are repeatedly asking variations of similar questions, for which they know there are no answers. Questions like this: "Can you tell us when Americans can feel safe again?" "Can you tell the American people when they can get a test if they want one?" "Can you guarantee that everything possible is being done?" "When will Americans be able to resume normalcy?" "Do you think calling it the Chinese Coronavirus is offensive and racist?" Those are the sorts of things you see in press conferences....and they come in a constant flurry every day. Dr Fauci has been a godsend in addressing many of these sorts of things. As to someone with Lupus, the reason they are at increased risk is they are immune suppressed. First, the chronic underlying disease effects the immune system. Also, most people with Lupus are on drugs that suppress the immune system. COVID-19 kills by causing severe pneumonia and respiratory distress syndrome. In addition, it causes a severe reaction called a "cytokine storm". You have to look it up to learn more about it, but basically it is a result of inflammatory mediators from white blood cells, like interferon and tumor necrosis factor and many many others. They cause: fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rashes, fast breathing, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, seizures, headache, confusion, delirium, hallucinations, tremor, and loss of coordination. It's like a combination of a bad flu and an allergic reaction. Ultimately it can cause respiratory failure and shock. A lot of drugs under trial work by blocking that "cytokine storm". Others work by helping eliminate or even kill the virus.
I'll try to answer your question another way. If someone goes into septic shock from a bacterial infection and they go into renal failure and die as a direct result of that, the underlying cause of death would be septic shock.
ETA: I neglected to answer your question more precisely. Most likely, a patient with Lupus who dies while infected with this coronavirus, dies from the virus itself, rather than a flare up of Lupus.
The first case is now at St Francis, where Laura works. She has volunteered to quarantine herself in her apartment---she and Chan live with Momma and Daddy (70s, some health issues, but overall healthy); what do you think she should do???? This is my greatest worry right now
Giving this a bump back up, hope that Bear can give Debra a answer to ease her mind a little.
The patient passed away. That's the only case they have so far. It's like a horror movie. . .

I dont know whats going to happen here in Texas, I hav'nt watch the news for the last couple of days, needed a break, just really bored, been raining for the last two days not going to complain becuase we needed this rain so darn bad, been in a drought so this is a blessing but so damp and nasty, been planting tomato plants and some fruit trees and flowers but this damp and rainy weather put a halt on my yard work so bored bored, lol, Farrier is coming out tomorrow so that will be something to do, so I will watch the news tonight to see whats happening. Our neighbor was telling hubby every time we go into town we need to get frozen food and what other items we will need, keep trucks full of fuel, he's military aslo on the medical field side {I thought I better correct this} but helps Fema out when they need extra helping hands when a disaster hits, so he was saying its going to get worst, so what ever Wayne says we listen, and Jay (hes high ranked military) says the same thing, just be prepared.. So sad that this is happening to our country.

This is something that just really scares me, telling us how we WILL live our lives, what we can and can not do. I worry so much about our children and their familys {GrandKids}, sure do miss how simple life use to be back in the 70's, 80's,90's and early 2000.

Location: Randolph, Utah | Here's WTF article for you! I'm so freaking mad about this. Not to mention our neighbors have 2 kids in Africa trying to get home. As far as I'm concerned the LDS church should of taken all these missionaries and put them in a church for 14 days. Quarantined them to make sure they wouldn't spread anything. They should do that for anyone coming from another country for the church! https://kjzz.com/news/local/lt-gov-cox-disappointed-in-missionary-families-at-airport-who-did-not-social-distance

Well, since you want to politisize this, it's happening now, under a republican president, senate and supreme court. But there's nothing a like a good ole scare tactic when your guy is bumbling along as always.

OK, Jd&ez, tell me something. First, do you think it's possible to discuss this without politics entering into the equation? Explain. Second, what's your solution, and how could this have been prevented? I'll await your answers.

Oh well Scott, my thread is already tainted with politics, so go get them. Every time I see jd&ez on here I always think of that song The Coward of the County.. Trump has no choice but to shut down business, over seas flights into the country, schools if he didnt do this jd&ez would then say Trump is not doing his job. Trump cant do anything without some fool calling him names or say hes not doing his job. What the heck do these people want??? jd&ez why do you want the USA to sink?

Ms. Dr. Phil
Location: My happy place | Bear since we all agree Dr Fauci is and expert, maybe we should listen to him. I will answer: Not kick the Harvard guy (virus expert) out of china in July. Look it up I don't have time to find. Not get rid of the pandemic team Obama formed, and then lie about not knowing you did it. Did we learn nothing from the flu? My husband comes in and says ....... I hear he's going to fire Dr. Fauci? I admit I haven't read much news today., he's been listening to radio. However I said I KNOW WHY. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03/i-m-going-keep-pushing-anthony-fauci-tries-make-white-house-listen-facts-pandemic?fbclid=IwAR1zTPo8iplPw0xupnWPUY5CPe-4q05rPFLhXDwnWdkDbAG4u46VnxmhwhQ I'm off to cook supper, everybody stay safe.

The attached interview with Dr Fauchi, is not what he stated in interview with Mark Levin....far from it. Not sure what side of the fence the good Dr, actually is on, and for some reason, although others, trust him, and believe in him, I have second thoughts about him. Just going on a gut feeling, and the way the Swamp operates in Washington.
