We got a nice break Friday, which was welcomed. Rained again slightly yesterday but the ground is so saturated it might as well have been several inches:-/ red clay only can absorb so much. But we had another break today with some actual sun too.
Hope you all get a needed break in weather too.

We got her over the little colic hump, the lady I get her herbs from was out of the kidney herb and then the distributor failed to get it shipped out in a timely manner to her so we had been without the herbs for a little over a week when CC had shown the colic signs. Note to self, order early before you only have a weeks worth of herbs left. Double dosed her this month on the herbs, cut out the Stable Mix that had been recommended and put her back on the Timothy Grass pellets, and her weight has resolved itself. Note to self, if it aint' broke, maybe you dont' need to fix it, LOL!! We have gotten a crazy amount of rain in January for our area, with red clay it became a quagmire and hadn't been able to ride. Finally last Saturday it had dried out enough on the hilly section to walk and trot some, she was happy to get out and do her thing, Sunday the wind blew at 45 mph so skipped riding that day but the wind did help to dry things out a bit more and have enough daylight now after I get off work that I got home last night, got a short ride in on her and still was able to feed with just enough daylight I didnt' need my headlamp until the very end.
So thankful for ENC kidney herbs, ACV, and Cur-ost!!! Hopefully with more daylight hours we will be able to hit a few races in a week or two and then get after come March.

We hauled to ride today, it had rained again on Sunday and Monday so our ground was a swamp again. Hauled my gelding and CC to an indoor pen, had several peope comment on how good they looked, hair coat, etc. I had almost forgotten how hard she is to stay with long trotting however, total workout!

Hauled to a gymkhana on Saturday with CC and Tucker. CC has always just been a Hawt mess at gymkhanas, to the point I quit going to them because they just frazzled her, why were there poles in the middle of barrels and why were the barrels not where they belonged???? Saturday she actually was able to run and allowed me to guide her in the events and by the 3rd event started to look for whatever the next obstacle might be. I made sure to offer her water often to keep her hydrated thru the day. She got a litte worried at the trailer the first time I took off on Tucker, but figured it out quickly and settled in. She ended up reserve high point for the day and ran the 3rd fastest time of the day in barrels. Today I handwalked her and Bioscanned everyone. So amazing to look at how far she has come in the last year<3

So after a comment by Herbie on another post about Total Support being a better choice for easy keepers I have recently changed CC to the EQ plus by Cur-ost. I had been having a little trouble keeping weight on her, she is a lean horse to start with, her appetite has always been linked to how much you ride her. I was thinking maybe we were starting to see some of the effects with the stones but her urine has stayed yellow and she has seemed like herself in every other way, just a slight weight dip. Switched to the EQ about 2 weeks ago and noticed last night her cinch had to be let out a hole. Had also taken a lesson on Saturday, more because I know at 51 I 'm not the rider I used to be or more appropriately the athlete I used to be, can't ever really say I was an outstanding rider. Just tried to be aware and my natural balance from gymnastics helped a lot with being able to get where I needed to be in a turn. I quit running about a year ago as my back and hips were really giving me problems from it to the point I would go home and not ride because they were cramping so badly.
Anyway, at the lesson I got my butt worked off, legs are still sore today as a matter of fact. Some other ladies were there too waiting for their turn, 1 of them says "I've never seen a horse glide like she does.." The lady I was taking the lesson from says "I've seen a couple, but they are far and few between". Now the momma needs to step up her game!!!

Just headed to a little gymkhana this weekend with Tucker and CC. I always used to use the gymkhana's as a way to get them seasoned and learn to look for the next obstacle. Never really worked out for CC, she could not for the life of her figure out why there were poles in the middle of some barrels (Big T) or why the barrels were not in the correct pattern, frazzled her to say the least to the point by the time they ran barrels usually at the end of the day she would be having a good old tizzy fit and her barrel pattern would be off kilter. Gave the gymkhana's up on her because trying to get her to understand that sometimes we run by the barrel (speed barrels) and sometimes we turn it gave her more anxiety than her brain was able to handle.
We had gone to a gymkhana for the first time in almost 6 years in early April, she handled things really well, I was able to actually run and direct and handle her. This weekend you would have thought she'd been running the events her whole life, actually out ran Tucker in 2 of them and was again Reserve Hi-point for the day with Tucker winning Hi-point. I think between the bladder stone being gone and the Cur-ost her brain can actually function at the rate her little high performance engine body goes. Only took 6 years, LOL!!!

So glad I happened on that post too Herbie, it has made a good difference in her switching to the EQ rather than the Total Support, she is much more CC with out the total Bi-polar tendencies. Manic without the depressive, LOL!!!
