want2chase3 - 2018-01-18 6:42 PM I just received a phone call that has me in tears... I got an automated message from our school about their annual talent show they put on... it costs money to come and they have lots of door prizes and games, just a whole night of family fun... the message said all proceeds from the show will go to Jacob and childhood cancer research .... it just warms my heart so much how our tiny community has embraced jacob and everywhere I go in town people I don't even recognize are asking me about him.
Oh man that is WONDERFUL:))))
It brings back the old adage that it takes a village to raise a child. That is what has been lost in this new age ....... It is sad that many don't even know their neighbors. You must live in a great little community............

We definitely do. It's one of the few "small" farming towns left. I hope it never grows too much and turn into big city like everywhere else has. I love the school, yes, it's small, and doesn't have the latest greatest this or that, but the teachers care and are truly invested in our kids.

We definitely have come a long way. I'm sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was complaining, I'm very grateful for his health and how he's easing thru this treatment, we are very lucky and blessed to have it pretty easy because I know there are children and parents who have it way worse than we do. We are one of the lucky ones. His energy levels are something to be reckoned with the last few days! I'm exhausted lol! We are all ready to face this head on and get jacob thru the surgery, I believe that's going to be the hardest part for him. He will recover and hopefully that'll be the last surgery he has to have!

Please don't think I meant you were complaining---my dear you are a rock!! A blessing for your little boy when he needs you so much right now. Y'all are in my nightly prayers as well as everyone else on here I'm sure. I'm having faith this surgery is gonna be successful and Jacob is gonna do nothing but flourish from here on out. Once this hurdle is cleared, it's straight to the top Momma

What a great testimony to small towns and how wonderful they still are. Your family is well loved, that's obvious!

That sounds like such a good report.  Yes you still have a ways to go but look how far you have come.  Grateful for your good news.  Please consider going home and resting some after the surgery if someone will stay a while for you.  I had a very sick husband at one time....one of the hospital stays were 39 days.  I went home twice for only a short period of time and I was surprised at how even 6 hours re-energized me.  It was like I wasn't getting real oxygen until I got home and then I could breathe.  You are just the BEST mom.

^^^ I agree .... contact a few people prior to the surgery who would be able to come and stay with him for short periods of time (perhaps during the night when he is sleeping) so that you may rest and re-energize.  You will need to be rested when he comes home from the surgery to care for him ..... Continued prayers (they are working !!!!)

Thank ya'll so much for being here for me. We are actually getting out of this house today, all of us, and going to a friends house for a bbq. The fresh air will do Jacob good I think. It's a pretty and sunny day to boot. We just got word today that his fundraiser/benefit will be April 21st! Very excited. The hall was donated to us and people are just jumping right in with donations to auction off. We will be having lots of yummy bbq plates, a great band and what sounds like an amazing auction! So much love and support for my Jacob. It truly touches my heart. My husband is going to build one of his famous trashcan to auction off too. He built mine and I love it!

Oh girl, I waited 7 years for that trash can lol! It's a long running joke about the 7 year trash can! When we first started dating I told him I needed to buy a new can for the kitchen and he told me not to go buy one, he'd make me one.. well 7 years went by and I finally got my trashcan on this last Thanksgiving. Lol! I love him, but he's a bit of a procrastinator haha!

How did your week-end go? Do you know what time Jacob's surgery will be on Friday? I was going to suggest that we all make sure that at the time we take a minute to pray for him (and his surgeon).

He had a very fun filled weekend, he got to finally go see the new star wars movie on sunday. He loved it! I'll find out what time surgery is on Wednesday when we go in for a pre surgery appointment and I'll let everyone know.
