Location: Colorado | I love the coeverage of GAC. The buckle presentation has been a hoot.
BUT, keep in mind that GAC obviously didn't see it as a hugh money maker or they would have bid it and fought to keep it.
If you all want better coverage let the ADVERTISERS know. Show them support. At the end of the day they are the ones paying for you all to see the show.

Why can't they just webcast it? It can be pay per view, that's fine, but that way I know how wins WHEN it happens, not two hours later. AND NO COMMERCIALS! You wouldn't miss a thing.
Β That wouldn't work for those of us with limited data. |

If it's live, I don't know how they can cut any of the events short? When it was on ESPN, it wasn't live so they had a chance to condense it. Wonder what channel that is with DISH? I say that but it's not like I've had a chance to watch the entire rodeo since I've got kids and a job but they're all sitting and waiting on my DVR...
It is currently "live" on GAC but there is a play delay so they can air commercials and show interviews without missing a single performance. I think any other sports station isn't going to take that time and care to make sure everyone has fair air time. They will cut to commercials or interviews while the rodeo is going on and not replay what was missed.
I am super bummed it will not be on GAC anymore. Just a couple days ago I let GAC know much I appreciated their hard work and coverage of the NFR. :(
Also no rodeo will fit into 90 minutes! The average time for a performance with 10-12 riders in each event takes roughly 2 hours and that is LIVE without commercials! |

It's not going to be on regular CBS. It's going to be on CBS sports network. Channel 158 on Dish network.
I'm with NJJ. Say goodbye to watching every run. It's stupid to move it from GAC. We need to petition for it to stay or something. GAC does a great job. |

I say that but it's not like I've had a chance to watch the entire rodeo since I've got kids and a job but they're all sitting and waiting on my DVR... They "say" that they are showing it "live" now....and they are NOT....it is "semi" live...on CBS, I predict that you will (just like it was on ESPN) MISS the contestants that run during the commercials, which, of course, are during the timed events.....GAC is on a short "time delay".....
And don't forget if there's a basketball or hockey game that goes long. Then it starts 30 minutes late and they condense it even more. We will see 7-8 timed event contestants and most of the barebacks and saddle broncs, and of course all 30 minutes of the bull riding. Priorities. It actually used to make me happy when a bull rider would go out, that always meant we would see one more barrel racer.
Maybe PRCA is doing this because more people are staying home and watching it instead of buying tickets or going to Vegas to watch it in the bars. Doesn't matter than T&M only has 17,000 some seats and they are all sold out a year in advance. |

We don't know that GAC even wants to continue showing the NFR. They may have decided it was not worth the money they pay to cover it. Keep in mind PRCA was PAYING ESPN for coverage. A really Bad business move.
Sponsors pay the bills. Support the sponsors, let them know you appreciate the advertising money they spend on Rodeo. Keep in mind they are wanting to increase the viewing audience to those beyond just rabid rodeo fans. That is the only way they grow their business and can justify pumping those advertising dollars into the sport.

Never going to happen. Las Vegas is a destination on it's own. NFR brings a lot more people than actually go to the rodeo, and they pay what it takes to keep it. |

Yep I saw and interview on RFDTV with the head guy in Vegas and he said the NFR is in Vegas to stay. They love it. It keeps the businesses busy during what is usually a slow time of year for Vegas. |

But their contact IS up in 2014 with Vegas. I've heard talk of tryin to get it back to Oklahoma City. But then you'd have to rearrange the BFA, which is a lot bigger than the NFR as far as competitors & payout. NFR cashes in on spectators. Which I think most people will follow the NFR no matter where it's held. |

I would KNOW i had some big boots to fill and I better work my tail off to give the PRCA a reason to stay on board with me - right?

The Southpoint is building another arena building that will hold 2 arenas side by side that are the same size as the current indoor pen. That should open them up to more events though I think they have 35 plus events a year now. |

Oklahoma City is not a destination people go to for vacation. Las Vegas is. |

PRCA only cares about the check it's getting....not about the product.........CBS WILL have a much poorer NFR experience for the viewer than GAC...... |

agreed....most people will not follow the NFR anywhere but Vegas......the number of rodeo fans that go to vegas and don't even go to a performance dwarfs the number that actually go, esp when you take out all the tickets that go to competitors and sponsors......the fans certainly aren't going to go to Oklahoma City and find a bar or hotel to sit in and watch the rodeo.......and OKC certainly isn't going to put up the money that Vegas puts up unless it's from T Boone Pickens pocket... |
