Itsme - 2013-12-13 7:10 PM Am I the only one that thinks its kinda weird we take the best 15 barrel racers in the US and put them on a pattern smaller than almost any pattern they ran on to qualify to make it there?
If you don't like the pattern, don't haul pro and try to qualify.
FYI, some pro shows are won in 12's............at least Corpus Christi used to me, I think they may have moved it since my mare ran there/
You always have such a nice way of putting things.....smh |

I still don't really understand the problem. They go to pro rodeos with the goal of making the finals. Why go to all the time and money and effort to try to make the finals if you don't like T&M? Yes Rapid City rodeo pen is smaller than T & M So thats 2 in the country...
Isn't Omaha? Or maybe it's Lincoln's pro rodeo's like an 11/12 second pattern? There are quite a few small pens out there. |

The winner of Omaha ran a 13.2 & Jonesboro AR was a 12.1 |

| Where else could they run for 10 days in front of a large crowd for this kind of money and coverage? It has been at the Thomas and Mack since 1985.....not an ideal set up for any of the timed events, but for 28 years it has worked well for them. Their fees are also covered by someone out there....wouldn't likely happen anywhere else.

I agree kmc. I always thought to rodeo you had to be tough mentally and physically. You hit the road and go. Whatever the particular rodeo offered you accepted, took the knocks if necessary and went on to the next one. Sorry if this offends some. |

| Bibliafarm - 2013-12-13 8:39 PM daisycake123 - 2013-12-13 9:29 PM I will probably get bad hate mail and email. But i would more inclined to get caught up in this if they had 1200 barrel racers and any good nbha show would probably not have a show in a pen that small and the ground does not look as trashy as i have seen t and m. I know those ladies and there horses are good anyone can have a bad week and this small pen might not,be their speciality, but what would haen if they let the top 50 go instead of top 15. i know myself when my 1-d mare was with me i could get my a** beat in a pen that my mare did not like iknew which ones and just did not go, had one that i liked vut she didnot i still went, i dont know why but she wasnot the only horse. But i also knew one girl beat me in that area, she could not understand and she was bragging on how good her horse did until the next week. thats like saying let 10 teams go to super bowl.. where is the prestige in that?
Maybe we could just not have the finals and send every card holder a couple of dollars..........
This is not a venue to reward mediocrity. |

I know if I were running at the world finals I would find a way to simulate the arena at home, at minimum the size of the pattern with at least the walls at the barrels to get used to running that close. makes sense and you can tell those who have prepared to run on that pattern, mostly likely the girls with the majority of clean runs. Not that I know for sure just an assumption. |

As does the team ropers. When you want to be a winner you do what you need to do to prepare for it. |

| The PRCA has made the decision to hold the NFR at the T&M. I am sure that the size of the barrel pattern in there never crossed their mind as a factor in their decision.
I would say that all those 15 gals would have access to horses that can handle that size pen and the ground conditions if they didn't think their horse would handle it good enough.
Is it ideal, perhaps not. But, it is what it is. |

They should move the NFR to Dubai.
I'd be good with that! I love Dubai! Horses typically acclimate rather well when shipping in and they are big on hospitality. |
