Why is it so hard for some to grasp that there are regional and cultural differences?  There are even training differences based on which gender is the majority in an area and what kind of pens and dirt you run on.

Based on my husband's limited experience at barrel races, he probably thinks that most men running barrels are gay.   It doesn't make it true. It doesn't make him a bad person. It just makes him a person who hasn't had a lot of experience outside a certain type local events.  In other words, he's ignorant. No shame in that--he's not horsey and doesn't care.

That's why I keep saying 'here in NBHA land'.

I know it's different out west, at least as far as guys running. There are male trainers all over the country. Add moved from SC to OK. He's closer to his rodeo clients now.

So, how do we get more men into barrel racing? Shouldn't that be our goal here?

There are plenty of female ropers. Breakaway especially. And plenty of good team ropers. We have a lot in our area who rope. I obviously never thought of men vs women in barrels OR roping.

A barrel racer is a barrel racer. A roper is a roper. Doesn't matter what gender they are. To me anyways.

Rodeo is the only sexist (or "traditional") organization out there. All the other barrel racing & roping associations allow both genders to compete equally.

Maybe we need to banish the gender barrier in rodeo!!! DOWN WITH RODEO! After all, that's where guys (& ladies) get it in their heads that guys rope/ride roughstock & girls chase cans, isn't it?

(This wasn't being serious. But seriously, think about it. Rodeo is where these stereotypes come from)

I'm not confused.

And no one has made it "a big deal".

I stated what I know in MY area, & NJJ showed up on her high horse looking to twist my words & prove me wrong (like usual) & I just defended my opinion & observations.

And then you do the same thing (as usual) & so I have to try to explain to both brick walls what I meant.

What is there to be confused about?

You really can't read, can you?

Men are beginning to dominate the NBHA & futurity world. Just like I said. And there are plenty of GREAT male trainers out there training for everyone, even those rodeo gals.

There really needs to be a face palm emoticon. And soon.

You're such a brick wall. Seriously.

Why would I need a pity party for myself? Because you obviously have NO life but to come on here JUST to bash other people & call names?

Naw. I'm good. Thanks tho.
