  When I tried T-Bo, I was told he didn't like whips or spurs.  I've owned him over 3 years and still have never used either on him.  He gives me what he's going to give each time... if he isn't running quite as hard as normal, I feel like he just didn't feel as good, or maybe I didn't ride enough during the week.  He is also a sensitive horse, so I don't want to upset, or "punish", him.
I have used a bat in the past and would use one again if I ever ride a horse that needs one.  I never mastered the over and under LOL.
