Location: Millen Ga | I work for a propane company and I promise you we arent price gouging! I am in Georgia. Ours is a small indepentantly owned company. Our price to us went up over 1.50 a gallon that we buy it at :( Right now our company is making less than 3.00 for every 100 gallon we deliver, and that doesnt cover our fuel to get it there. |

You just have no control. I am really more and more interested in solar and those real efficient wood burning furnaces. I have wood coming out my ass, and even if it takes more work, I still like the idea. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I priced propane locally this afternoon just out of curiosity. $4.58 and a wait of 7-10 days before they can deliver. I was shocked. |

Well I would rather just poop it out than have to go out there and cut it and split it! You are one lucky guy!!! Do you deliver? |

Location: SD | Our family business is fuel. My FIL bought enough propane ahead that we are able to charge about $2.70 to people who did NOT contract any. Another fuel business is charging $5 and another is near $4.50. They either did not buy enough ahead (last summer) or are taking advantage of their customers. |

I work for a propane company too and can say we have no raised our profit margin a single penny. Our wholesale cost from the refineries has risen $1.25 /gallon since summer. So, our retail prices have risen to reflect those costs. Not our profit. I've been in the propane biz for 11 years now. *Used* to work for one of the big boys (AmeriGas) and so happy I work for a smaller company now. We have 4 locations in Southern California and smaller companies don't have the overhead the big boys do. Nor do we charge minimal margins to the big users and make it up on ripping off your average American homeowner. |

about 6 years ago we switched out from propane to a Geo Furnace. It has been a great move. Ran us about 13K to install but it will be paid for very shortly if not already with the savings. We keep our home at a balmy constant 70 degrees. and we have had MANY sub zero nights and single digit days already this winter and this last electric bill to run the furnace was $160 I am not going to complain about that! and usually I only have 2 bills that high the rest of the months drop to closer to $100 or less. I highly recommend it to anyone with propane looking to invest in a change. |

Right now this is a disaster for many. I have no problem with the boys in Washington checking it out. |

| A gal I work with, her husband runs a couple of local rural electric coops. She said that last fall he had said that propane pricing was going to triple this winter. I've not had a chance to ask her what his reasons were however.
Come on guys, it's winter. It gets cold. Of course propane will be needed. I know that last fall, the weather guys were forecasting a colder winter than we've had the last couple of years. Don't they look ahead? I don't know who is manipulating the price, but I bet someone is. |

 Can You Hear Me Now?
Location: When you hit the middle of nowhere .. Keep driving | In doing research for my business plan I have spoken with a few chicken and turkey farmers. They are worried. There is a shortage up here too and the supplier will only give them half of their required amount and told them to make it stretch and make do. Not very comforting when your lively hood is in those barns and they depend on heat. Coupled with the fact we are experiencing one of the coldest winters a lot of people have seen. |

| Ours is now on 58 at night and 62 during the day - FREEZING. I can't afford a $2000 propane bill, I just spent $4300 on a new well! I'm not THAT grossly overpaid! |
