Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | DLV - 2014-02-04 11:42 AM I like racoons! I've only EVER had ONE get into my tack room and he was eating pears, it was cute! I don't kill Opossums either. I respect all animals... I live trap them and move them far away. Just me. A friend of mine stabbed a Opossum to death with a pitch fork and was bragging about it... even if it IS a Opposum, still no way to kill an animal. They can feel pain too. Kill it humanely if you must.
No worries. I don't kill animals. I can't. I just trap them and take them over to the LA/TX border and gently point them west when I turn them loose. I just let the Texans handle it. |

Oh, I walked in the tack room and FED the cats with a skunk RIGHT there, (my cats were black and white too) - I about crapped when I realized one was a skunk!!

Location: In my own world | My dad had a pet Racoon when I was a baby. Gasp! Ringo slept with me and would steal my bottle because my dad raised him off one.. He's got pics somewhere of us sleeping. He would walk on a leash like a dog, loved to go for rides and eat ice cream. He was trained to go out to potty like a dog and would scratch at the door. I wish I could remember him. My dad was 18 when he had me, I know it wasn't a bright idea to have a coon for a pet. He got hit by a car at about age 5
on the flip side we had one attack a dog of ours. He got shot unfortunately. |

My dad took the last feral cat he trapped to the country club neighborhood after we got her spayed. Same concept. |

All my unopened feed bags were ripped open and there was feed everywhere! We know it was a raccoon because we caught him in a trap coming back out of the feed room. Just about 3 weeks ago I woke up at about 5 am to my guineas creating a awful racket, which is unusual because they stay in a tree until daylight. I ran outside and a BIG raccoon was chasing all 4 of them around. I yelled and he took off toward the barn. I ran in to get the gun and when I came back out either him or his buddy got caught in the trap. I'm missing more chickens that I care to count..... The raccoon eats the chickens or just wants them to lay him some eggs??? They aren't friendly and will kill chickens, rabbits and kittens. One animal I hate around. I see....
How about the armadillo's? Do we like them? Armadillos dig holes and carry leprosy. They also make awesome speed bumps. They're also fun to sneak up on and scare them because they jump straight up and squeal.
WUT??? lol, do we still have leprosy??? I thought we were over the leprosy scare.....
Armadillo's run funny too......
It's still a thing! People just don't die from it anymore ....because we can stop it before it eats half of your face off now????? With what?? I need to get a supply of whatever stops that, because I have an armadillo. I call him Newman, because he runs like Newman from Sienfeld.
Seriously LOL'd at this ... we had one stuck in a window well this last fall. We named her Rita, cuz we were drinking Margarita's while configuring a way to get her outa the window well without having to touch her .... and the whole leporsy thingy ... |

Location: Oklahoma | I do try to run over every possum I see, because of EPM, but the they and the others don't come anywhere near the house or the barn because of the mastiffs. They aren't brave enough to challenge them and if they are, they end up as a chew toy. |

Location: LaBelle, Florida | Coons have taken out so many of my chickens I have lost count. One morning I went out and there were several trails of nothing but feathers go up the trees.
Now I have a guardian dog and he put a stop to all that. He is very teritorial when it comes to animals. He runs off stray cats, hogs, coons, whatever. |

I get such a kick out of the armadillos! I can definitely see "Newman" in the way they move! It's about a month till the babies start to appear in fours. Where you see one baby you will more than likely see 3 more. They are pretty funny when you scare them and they jump straight in the air. Of course, my weiner dogs would LOVE to kill them! My Doberman thinks they are interesting but she doesn't try to kill them.
LRQHS-Please quit sending the racoons our way, Texas is full! Also, you can stop it with the wild hogs, too! |

Location: west of East Texas | I'm kind of mad at all them right now. The opossums are scary but they are just freaky looking little dudes. The raccoons crap all over my hay, try to fight back if I walk up on them by surprise. and whip up on the small dogs and cats. The armadillos dig so many tunnels that I am very careful about riding in the pasture. The skunk that is hanging out in the barn eating the cat food sprayed about 8 days ago and I still smell like it when I come back in the house. Now I think I finally have the hubs convinced that we are feeding the barn cats WAY too much. And we are feeding them at the house now.
We bought a couple of live traps and have them set out now. We've only caught one skunk so far. The armadillo population took a dive when my Jack Russell and Great Dane tagged up on them for several years and that was great. The JRT has been gone for a couple of years now and we are starting to see them again. I'm OK with the wittle wabbits. |

Location: Viola, IL | I didn't read all of the responses.
BUT, we have a pet raccoon.
He doesn't get FREE range of the farm, because we do have chickens and cats. But, since he grew up around the cats, he's really nice to them, unless they have food.
He is nosey, but not as nosey as he would be if he were wild, because I exposed him to everything and he's not as curious about stuff.
Currently he's more interested in shiney stuff.. he had a steak knife one day, don't know where it came from, but I was alittle worried about him and my safety! |

| Armadillos will break the stock of your rifle when you use it for a club after you've used all your ammo and still haven't killed it.
