The reason it's free is because someone else was nice enough to pay for it. There just happened to be a sponsor for this webcast. I am not sure who the sponsor is, but they should be thanked.
We need to find out who the sponsor is then so we can thank them. I thought the advertisements paid for it and was glad to see the barrel horse world catching up. That's how the cowhorse people do it. They sell the advertisements that they air between sets so then don't charge for the webcast. |

Location: Where I am happiest | Yes, today is the second go and they run in reverse order. So if you were first out yesterday, you'll be last out today. Rakes are in the same place, so if you were bottom of the ground yesterday, you'll be first out after the rake today.
I do have a rules question though as I've never been to this futurity. They take the top 50 fastest back to the short go. They add your qualifying time from the long go that got you into the short go, and add it to your short go time to determine your average. So my question is, lets say you ran in the top 10 on your first go, so your pretty well assured your making the short go. Do you have to take your second long go run? Or can you opt not to run the second go and save your colt for the short go? Anybody know? |

They might not have known when they entered the horse who was going to ride. So the pre-draw wouldnt have it listed. |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | So, another question......why do we see Brittany Pozzi, but no Sherry Cervi, Mary Walker, Fallon....etc? I understand they may not have a Futurity horse, but why is Brittany doing this? Doesn't count for WPRA monies earned or does it?
And, why are people like Jolene Montgomery so good, but not going after NFR titles?

I dont know about her personally but some people just like barrel races and have no desire to rodeo :) |

Why do any of us do this? We like to barrel race. The futurity world is a completely different game from the rodeo world. Brittany has had some luck doing both. Sherry did the futurity thing in the mid-2000's but has admitted she does not prefer it. When Stingray was a futurity horse she ran her in a couple of AZ ones, but then sent her off to Ryan to run the rest of the year.
Why doesn't someone like Jolene make an NFR run? Obviously you would have to ask her the real answer but, those top trainers can win nearly as much money as those NFR girls and travel half as much. Take someone like Jolene - she won 30,000+ or something ridiculous like that at the BFA last December. Kassie won nearly $30,000 in 3 weeks in AZ on the Firewatermakemehappy horse and never left the property. Kassie has been to the NFR and hasn't tried to go back. Also, the futurity trainers like Jolene don't own most, if any, of the horses they ride so they can't just decide "I'm going to go run this horse at the rodeos now". The owners get to decide where their horse is run.
Some want to rodeo, some like to train them, run and move on and some like to do both. To each their own!

Location: Where I am happiest | Sherri Cervi had a couple futurity horses at the Arizona futurities but they didn't run that tuff plus it's awfully hard to rodeo to make the NFR AND try to hit a bunch of futurities. Usually, they either train futurity horses and make their living that way OR they go rodeo. Only a few try to do both but are usually just riding their own in that case.
As far as like Brittney goes, while I don't know her personally, but she's just riding her own futurity horses and now with the American in the mix, I could see some after getting tired from years of hauling rodeoing question whether it's really worth it to make the NFR orrrr, slow down a bit just go when and where you want and go qualify for the American. You'd have to haul your wheels off and hit the pay window at a lot of rodeo's to make as much money as you would as a qualifier at the American. |

Thank you lol.....I was just thinking that sounds really difficult to do both and what would make you choose one over the other......I understand that they like to barrel race.
