Southtxponygirl - 2014-04-19 9:40 AM Sterling I hate that you are going threw this, you have gotton some great advice on here. Just asking you this, but do you have perms are color treat your hair? I know that this is the worst things for your hair. But another good vit. that you can get I cant remember what its called but it for the pregant moms to take and you can get it at Wal-mart too. Hope that you get this all figured out soon. Hugs girl Β
No perms, ever. I do color my hair but its to cover the gray hairs LOL. I take a prenatal vitamin so I'm hoping that helps. I just started it about a week ago so it would be too soon to know if its helping. I'm going to try the Nioxin treatment that a BB suggested and get some Biotin as well.

At least you are working on trying to get your hair back to normal, When I was pregant I took the prenatal vits and it made my hair grow like crazy, I used to have waist lenght hair when I had my first boy. Wore it long untill I hit my mid 30's then got to be to much work. And Biotin is really good, if you have a Health Food store go by there and get fresh vits, the fresher the better.Β

I may end up cutting my hair short but I really really don't want to. Im going to try the suggestions that people have mentioned and give it a good amount of time and if the doctor still can't find anything and my hair is still thinning then I may just cut it but that is my last resort.

Another suggestion is that I would see a dermatologist. A general practitioner or internal medicine guy is likely not going to be able to do much except run a blood test. A derm can look at your hair follicles and will be more likely to determine the cause for your hair loss and the best way to go about treating it.

I went to a dermatologist, he pulled my hair out, looked at it and said come back in three months. He said, 'It should grow back." I left crying, I was so upset. Its expensive to go to those places and I was literally there 20 minutes.

I have a student that is currently in the 6th grade...last year I had him as a 5th grader and he was bald with patches of hair- we let him wear a hat at school. He underwent treatments and would get shots in his head for his hair loss-and this year he is hat free! He does have a patch of bald-but it is improving. Now do I have any idea what kind of shots these are and how often?

No clue-but there is something out there that will work I am sure. My next steps would be to either contact an experienced hair dresser as mentioned or some type of hair loss specialist.

Oh...... and I dont brush or comb my hair while its wet, I always let it dry on its own, no blow dryer. I have found that this is really hard on my hair. So just let dry then brush...

I'm going to look into a different dermatologist, get a second opinion.

I've backed away from the blow dryer and straightener. I only use them when I'm in a time crunch and need to make my hair look a little nicer. For the most part I just wear a headband and a side braid.

Wanted to post to let you know that the same thing happened to me last summer. I had a lot of thinning, but also had bald patches. I was diagnosed with alopecia. My hair is coming back, but it's a different texture and such a pain to hide. I chose not to cut mine short b/c I could use the longer pieces to try to hide the bald spots.
I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I didn't know I was a vain person until this happened to me. I was devastated.

People notice other people's hair. Your hair can make you feel pretty. It can effect your mood depending on how it cooperates so I completely understand. My thin hair had made me self conscious and I use headbands as a crutch to hide the thin hair. I try to not wear a headband every day but I do at work, always. I'm hoping with the vitamins and products I can get my hair back. Cutting mine is also not an option, I love it long. My doctor didn't think it was alopecia because its not falling out in chucks, its just falling out evenly all over the top of my head. Hugs to you!

I know that vitamin D3 helps keep your hair color from turning grey. It's best to use a liquid vitamin over hard vitamins as they don't break down near as well in the stomach leaving you without the much needed vitamin. As some one mentioned eating clean has great benefits. You may not want to change your diet, perhaps you could add a smoothie mixed with veggies and fruit to your likeing add flax and chia even your vitamins.

I was going to suggest alopecia too. I think it's kind f like an auto immune disease. I'd really look into it.  I've had 2 friends with it. But I think one of the things essential to stopping total hair loss is early diagnosis. Please look into it at least.

I did and my doctor didn't think it was. I could always go get a second opinion though. He said that alopecia falls out in chunks and mine is more of an all over fall out. You know, something I didn't mention is that my scalp will hurt. Its not itchy or red or anything but it hurts. Like to brush my head hurts sometimes.

I haven't met a veggie or fruit that I don't like so I will definitely start doing the smoothie thing. Thank you for the suggestion.

With your scalp hurting I wonder if you could be allergic to something, like your shampoo, clothes soap. Maybe get an allergie test.
