| Tattoos are art work to me. I don't get them because I think they will make me beautiful. I get them because I just want them! I love tattoos! people have so many stories they share through their tattoos!
I have 13 total including a 1/2 sleeve. Yes I get judgmental looks sometimes. But sometimes people ask me about them and I get to talk to random people I've never met before...which is a good opportunity to speak to them about God.
I have a relationship with God and he is very forgiving!
Be your own person! Get what YOU want! You only live once. I'm 27, OUR generation has tattoos! |

But honestly you don't seem to sure about the tattoo. If you were dead set that you wanted, needed, had to have that exact tattoo on your body for the rest of your life you would not need to ask for oppinions. Get a nice piece of jewelry made with that design on it. That way you can wear it every day if you want or take it off, put it in a jewelry box and never look at it again. lol |

Location: Minnesota | I have a bunch of tattoos, I plan to get many more. I think tattoos are beautiful when they are done professionally. I don't care what my tattoos will look like when I'm older. They represent a time in my life and all my tattoos are things that represent me and things I hold dear to my heart.
I read the bible, I go to church. God will love me when I reach those gates. Just because I choose to decorate my body with tattoos does not make me a bad person. I'm not disobeying God. IMHO.
People often care more about what others think and choose not to do something they want to do because they are scared of what others will say or think. I've had whispers behind my tattooed back of mothers telling their children to not stand close to me, I've had people tell me I'm going to Hell and then I've had people tell me my ink is beautiful. I've heard it all.
I work in Management and some of my best employees are covered in tattoos. Its a judgemental world we live in. Quit a shame if you ask me.
Take it for what you will. Don't be afraid to stand out, take a chance. If you love the tattoo, get it. God will love you. |

| A lot of comments on here have said that God will forgive you. Does this mean that you have asked for forgiveness? If you have, does this mean that you do perceive this to be a sin? And if so, are you willing to repent? Because that is the key to forgiveness. You must repent, turn away from your sin and turn to God. If you are going out and getting more tattoos, are you repenting? Be careful when requesting forgiveness for a sin you do not intend to turn away from. |

Location: North Dakota | Everyone needs something to believe in! I believe that my religion is between me and my God. Do I feel guilty for not being as close to my God after reading posts on here-yes I do. Do I think that He will forgive me-yes I do. Do I think what you and your's do is up to you and your God? Yes I do! Am I judging you? Yes I am-Do I think God will for give me for judging you? I sure hope so! After all that, what YOU do with YOUR body is truly between YOU and YOUR God! Don't expect me not to comment or look at your tattoos-what did you put them on your body for? I do not have a tattoo-do you condemn me for that?? |

| I have 3 tattoos, and am getting one next week. My best advice is to get it where you can easily cover it. Many places make you cover them, and if you work outside, or even inside, wearing a jacket or long sleeves in the summer would suck. One of our PCT's has had to go down and buy a scrub jacket from the uniform shop to cover her tattoos.
I have one on my upper arm that I wish I had something different and want to have something done over it. |

I do the hireing. I don't hire people with tatoos. They care enough to cover them up for an interview, then I'm fine with it.
You won't hire someone with a tattoo showing yet you spell HIRING wrong??? Just saying..... |

You don't know what your gonna think when your older. And I can say this I know many, many people who regret getting tattoos once they get older. So many of them look stupid, or just plan ugly (faded,,stretched, out of style) etc. How many girls are getting the infamous "tramp stamps" now? And I know more than a few who got them back in the day who now regret it. |

I currently am a preschool teachers aid. There are several workers here that have them. Some are visable some aren't. My boss started getting complaints about it. She told them they could take there children someone where else if they wanted to because she wasn't going to fire someone over tattoos and she wouldn't not hire someone because of them either. I come from a family that have very traditional southern values. A tattoo would be a big no no but my uncle just got one and he's 58 but it's something that means a lot to him. If I get one and I do get looked down on that's my excuse. He got one so can I. I showed to pic to Dad and he told me he was aginst them but it was really pretty and I needed to go read the bible lol. So I guess if you wanna get technical about it he didn't say no.
I am sorry but using your uncle as an excuse is childish.
If you want a tattoo get one, stand up to the ridicule, and the judgements of the family, wear it proud, do not hide behind your uncles actions, take responsibility for yourself.
This is the problem with today's society, it is always someone else's fault for an individuals actions. |

I just think using the Bible as an excuse for not wanting someone to do something is a cop out. People eat bacon...but don't like tattoos or gays so they use verses from the Bible. Woman do not wear veils and speak up in church but don't like tattos or gays so they use verses from the Bible. People have pre-marital sex, get divorced, wear ripped jeans, wear clothing of different material together, get their hair cut, drink wine in church, work on Sabbath, I could go on and on and on!!!
If you feel ashamed and guilty for wanting to get a tattoo because the Bible is telling you not to then DON'T DO IT! But if you really want that tattoo and do not feel you are disobeying God but the only reason you question it is because some people keep spewing a Bible verse at you then maybe you should remind them to cancel their next hair appointment.

If in one year you still like it as much as you do today then get it. As for the bible you have to decide for yourself and how you interpret it , not how the world tells you should interpret it. This subject can be twisted any way you need it so you have to read for yourself and go with your own heart. This is the one verse I keep reading over and over “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28 ). In my option it's means just what it says "do not mark your bodies for the dead" not trying to offend or upset anyone by any means but this makes me think of memorial tattoos. But on the other hand I read it also as "do not mark your bodies" meaning no kind of tattoo or piercing. It's too late for piercings but I don't have a tattoo yet.
It also says around those same chapters in Leviticus to not plant 2 kinds of seed in the same field or wear clothes made 2 kinds of fibers.
So you can't plant your tomatoes and your corn in the same garden plot, not wear clothes that are made of cotton and lycra....
People love to use the verse against tattoos but I can guarantee you they're wearing clothes made with more than one kind of material & if they grow a garden it's got more than just one vegetable.
Pray about it and ask for guideance. Then make sure you find some quiet time because that's when God speaks to us.
Bottom line to me is that what may be right for me may not be right for you which is why we need guideance and prayer. |

Oh and it's tattoo... I would have corrected that as well but I was simply making a point at first...I meant no offense, however, I have tattoos, am highly educated and can spell... The ink did not affect that in any way. |

Location: stray dump capital of the world | I have a tattoo and got it when I was 47. (I'm 52) It represents a very painful part of my life and I love it. I plan on getting another. Mine is not visible due to my place of employment not permitting it, but I will say this, there are a lot of professional people with tattoos. Doctors, lawyers, prosecutors, judges, teachers, and the list goes on, so the stigma clearly is not important anymore. Some are visible while others are not. It's a personal choice. One of my sons has them and one does not, but both sons are in professional careers. My husband doesn't have them and never will. The most painful comment came from my brother who called me a white trash wh#*& last summer when he saw it. (It's on my shoulder blade and I was in a tank top working in my parents yard) Needless to say, I haven't spoken to him since. Who needs that negativity in their life! Lol To the OP, do what you want. It's your choice and your body.
ETA: Just wanted to say that my dad was very opposed to tattoos; however, when he saw mine, he teared up because he knew what it represented. He understood what it means to me.
